Hey guys, I was curious if anyone would possibly interested in a carbon fiber lip spoiler for our CLs. I just think it would draw out our somewhat boring/snubby front end a little bit more. For example, here's one on a BMW 3-Series:

I know of a few people I could contact and have one custom fit for our cars if there was a group buy large enough. I'd assume I'd need somewhere around 15-20 people and a $50-100 deposit. The total cost shipped I'd guess would be around $250-350 and I'd guess between 3-8 months for production.

Anyway, this is just about the most preliminary thread I could make about it. I'm just curious to see what the HONEST interest level would be (and that means that you'd have the $50-100 deposit, then when it's ready, the rest of the $150-300 more. If I see enough interest, I can make some calls and see what kind of numbers I could do.

Also, if anyone likes the idea, but would want a different design, we could of course work on it. Let me know if you're interested!

No not the splitters, it'd be an actual carbon fiber lip that would be molded specifically for our front lip. Refer to the Subaru Legacy that was just sold in the Black Market, that kind of lip.

A feeler is just a thread to get out the concept and see feedback on it. If there is enough interest over the next few days, I'll make a few calls and get some more defined prices/conceptual ideas/etc for the actual making of it.

 

the pictures you posted are of carbon fiber (wind)splitters. there are universal fit splitters for all cars. a carbon fiber lip, on the other hand, is a completely different part.

The picture of the STi you posted shows that the description of the product as a "wind splitter" from APR. if you're talking about producing a carbon fiber front lip, i suggest posting the correct pictures so that there's no confusion. the pictures you're posting are of only splitters.

Sorry, I couldn't find actual lip shots, never saw the splitters before as the pictures I posted were. So, ignore the pictures I posted, rather the one shown in the post above mine.

I was thinking Feeler's was going to be another american company making fun of a Japanese tuner. Thought maybe they were trying to act like Feel's. Anyways, sweet looking lip.

 

if they can look clean cuz the ones on those cars are way to RAce oriented.. lol

Something small, suddle, lowers the front a bit maby.

i'm just curious, but does it have to be carbon fiber?i mean carbon fiber is plain sick, but it might be too racey.idk thats my . but yah i think it would have to be somewhat subtle and clean since its not going to be a full kit. having just a really aggressive lip all by itself might look tacky. maybe something similar to this lip, carbon or not...

 

That would be nice, the CL looks kinda plain and boring on the front end. Its got like a big happy smile

Thank you for contacting APR PERFORMANCE.
Currently, APR does not have the requested application Splitter.
But, we would able to custom make one. There are no additional charges if
the splitter is about the same size as the production ones.
For custom make a splitter, we will need a bumper shape template.

First, use a large sheets of paper or cardboard, place underneath the front
bumper.
Draw the bumper bottom outline.
Fold it up then send to us.

Cost for custom splitter; $320+ shipping
Estimated working time; 2 weeks.



*Bumper length cannot exceed 72".

*Bottom of the bumper requires at lease 3"~ 4" of flat surface all around to
mount the splitter.

*Fold your template in the center to check if both curves match each other.

I actually did not mean the splitter as I by accident denoted earlier. I can have a company create a true custom carbon fiber lip as BrianLin first showed. I have a friend who has excellent photoshop skills working on the essential prototype now. I'll have it posted within the next few days, depending on his efforts towards working on it.

After that, I can contact the company and see what kind of deal I could get working. One of the designers is in Cali so I may ask one of you to be the test design if and when this actually gets going.

I really think this would add an unbelievable amount of appeal to the front end of what I consider a slightly boring front bumper. Keep posting your thoughts, it's looking pretty positive so far

 

Also I was thinking of something similar to the Mercedes AMG kit carbon fiber lips as shown here:



The bottom carbon fiber lip there I think it adds an aggressive tone without being too overbearing

I would prefer a color matched front lip over any kind of splitter. The CLS is to fancy of a car to have a splitter on it

 

YES. i think a slight lip that is less extreme than the ron jon would be nice. kind of like the TL lip that can be modded for the CL.

 

i dono, i also think it might be like BAD ASS if our Cls had CF slpittler lol!

 

I would be interested but I would need to see it for real or a very good pshop (don't count me in for the deposit though). I think something similar to the MB above would be the right way to design it.

That's the way I want to do it, just like the MB picture there. Hopefully we can do something with it

im also interested in a new style lip. i wanted something a little more subtle than ronjon's lip. also some subtle sideskirts and rear skirt just to balance out the roundness of the rears wouldnt hurt

maybe something like the ones mentioned above or the rsx's optional kit, or the integra's optional kit?:
