Car wont start after ThermoBlok install??
This weekend I spent some time under the hood. I installed the ThermoBlok spacers, cleaned the throttle body, upgraded the grounding wires to battery, replaced the intake manifold cover with one I had chromed, and cleaned the entire engine compartment (just soapy water, toothbrush, and a rag). Everything went fine no problems, but now the engine wont start? It tries to start, sputters, chokes and nothing. Its started twice for just a second then instantly dies. Im afraid I screwed somthing up on accident.
I checked everything I can think of... fuses, electrical connections, vacuum/coolant lines, the battery is fine, no check engine lights, double checked the ecu with wire jumper trick no codes, and reset the ecu. I thought the throttle body wasnt opening, but when I held it open a little while someone else tried to start it, no difference.
Anybody have any ideas? Ive always been intimidated by engines so my knowledge is limited. Im tring to avoid having to tow to the dealership, pay the big money, and get hassled for my mods.

says "hello to my TLX".
is everything torqued down to spec? this sounds like a vacuum line problem to me. it's not a bad idea to replay everything done in your head and trace back to anything that was moved.

Thanks guys. I hope its just an unplugged fuel injector, I didnt even think to check that. If its not I'll break out the big ass Acura service manual and verify the vacuum connections. I did torque everything to 16lbs. Should I replace the original metal gasket on the lower manifold? the car only has 20,000 miles on it.

My first thought was the distributor cap as well - it's typical to get it wet and start misfiring after engine bay shampoo's !

Any engine electrical connector that got wet could cause this- take a hair dryer and heat up all the areas you scrubbed with water. Engine compartments are splash-proof, not sealed. The car may actually start after an overnite setting, but water can sit weeks in a connector.
(I manage 14 connector product lines for Tyco Automotive- we see this all the time)

I gave up and took it to the dealership. They suspected the intake cleaner was effecting the plugs, didnt think I used that much.
Heres what the invoice says "Found fuel soaked plugs, removed body inlet to force air into intake and combustion chamber to remove fuel buildup, cleaned plugs, recheck PCM and O2 sensor readings, ok now" Im assuming this was before they realized it was intake cleaner not fuel.
Cars running great now and I changed the oil to be safe. Im hearing that whistling sound people have mentioned...I like it! And I hated having to trim the engine cover for the sensor to clear, but I knew Id have to thanks to acurazine.
We all like pics so heres a new one!

Yeah I must have over did it cleaning the upper manifold. Im still surprised it got to the plugs? I didnt think to ask alot of questions when I picked it up, I was too anxious to get to the car. It was $184, it sucks but the only other shop I trusted went out of business.
