Car Won't Start!

Not long ago my CL-S wouldn't start one night. After about 20 minutes of just sitting there I gave it one more try, it started right up. Took it to Acura service the next day and they told me I had probably disabled the ignition system by accident from interference with other keys (they say it's a security feature). I only have one other key on my key ring (house key) and that's it. Has anyone else had this happen? Do you think it's something more?

Sounds like the security feature built into the key failed and wouldn't allow you to start the car! That would not be a pleasant experience to get stranded cause the dumb key decides to deactivate!

was it really hot outside?? there was a TSB about the car not starting when it was hot outside. Do a search to try and find the thread. I recently took my car to the dealer for this but of course they couldn't reproduce the problem. Even though they said a few people with CL's and TL's have been having this problem. So they knew how to fix it but didn't. It only happens to me once in a blue moon so I'm not to worried about it yet.

did u start the car on a hill?? i've found that my car has a bit of trouble starting if it's on an uphill, so i have to give it a bit more gas...simple gravity to blame ...is there the possibility u just flooded the engine a bit?? after 20 minutes, u'd b fine...can u remember if u smelled gas upon starting up??...if so, that's more evidence of flooding the engine...hope this helps some.

You should leave the key in the on position for 1 or 2 seconds. Then start the car. I found this gives the security system plenty of time to recognize the key.

Hey dudes, cease fire, O.K.?

Security system failed in the key? Sounds kinda like bullshit to me. But, ANSWER the question, "Was it really hot?" Because if it wuz, there is a SB (Service Bulletin) on this, and if you do a "search" you can locate the bulletin #, print it out, and show it to your yahoo Acura dealer.

I "searched" on "hard to start car" and found this: link to "Hard to Start" thread
