Which car should i get it?

Hey guys,

I just had an 2005 lincoln ls that got hydrolocked. So im in the market for a new car and I always loved the look of the CL so im debating between two vehicles.

Choice 1
2002 Acura CL-S Auto
Silver with black interior
$12,900 79K Fully loaded except nav.
one owner
All service records and service always done on time.

Choice 2
2003 CL-S Auto
red with tan interior.
$10,700 103k Fully loaded except nav
one owner.
No info on the service and such I will find out tomorrow

Don't quote me on this, but the '03's are less likely to have tranny problems. (I think they fixed it halfway through '03 but now 100% sure)

If you could find an '03 6mt you'd be tranny problem free (Only seen one go bad on here, and that was last week lol)

Just a pricing "quote": I got my '03 CL-s6 for $9500, with 80k miles. So they can be had in good shape for under 10k. Just gotta look hard.

Go take it for a drive, test out the tranny, and get a 30 day+ warranty. lol

Research this site.(FAQ) Look at the tranny forum.
Then decide.

You have to consider the trans warranty(only some 03's are covered)
Too old(like for an 01) or past 109K miles & your not covered.
Also there's a required 105K mile service that requires a timing belt change & related parts. That's another $800 to spend.
Most members will tell you to try to get a lower mileage 6MT CLS.

Don't let the false "Fully Loaded" quotes get you.

That is the beauty of most Acuras, all the cars are "fully loaded" Navi is the only option for the CL beside the type S model.

So its either Nav or no Nav, besides that, all the other features are the same.

When my fiancee was looking to buy an Infiniti, there were so many options from one car to the next that it made it hard to weigh each option and what not.

Good luck.

Can we have the mods limit the amount of people who always say, "Get a 6mt". Ok I think we all understand by now about the advantage of the manual but all it does is deter conversation when someone obviously states they don't want a 6 speed.

A.) Someone who doesn't know how to drive a stick or doesn't want to learn
B.) Someone who does a ton of city driving and doesn't want the annoyance.
C.) Someone just prefers the ease of an automatic transmission.
D.) If it wasn't for the slightly faulty auto transmission, an automatic has a higher resale than a manual.

So mods, can we please have all forum members stop telling everyone to get 6 speeds, it gets kind of old.

Whatever, it doesn't bother me

You're right, some people just prefer automatic.

I hope i didnt come off as saying "Just get an MT" I was simply referring that the 6mt's (and half of the 03's) have alot less tranny problems.

Good for you that they are going to fix your Lincoln. I hope you do continue to look for a CL that works for you. Most people, color is a big issue, mileage isn't as important as how well it was taken care of. I hope the few negative people on here didn't turn you away from our group here. Most people on here are VERY helpful and really enjoy helping each other. I have a CL-S and it is really worth it if you can find one. Best of luck....
