car payments
I was talking with dad and he said I had 2 options with a car.
#1 get what i'd concider"okay"(like a 98 Accord coupe v-6) used car now
or
#2 run my car for another year and then(i'm still in college but i got about 5,000 bucks i saved from when i worked) I'd use that as car payment money on my new CL-S. but here's the kicker.
I know it's unfair (and kind of personal) but what are you guys paying a month on a CL-S(no navigation).cause I'd take out a 5 year loan. I figured if I could do about 400 maybe 500 a month(but i'll have to deposit a little more between now and next christmas)(christmas of 03) i'm not planning on trading in my Accord(cause it will have so many miles on it they won't give me anything for it)(it will have about 225,000 miles on it) so i'll keep it as my beater:P .
basically it will be a normal car sale(no trade in,no cash down)
thanks guys(sorry if it's a little personal)

PM me if you're serious and just throw an offer out. I'll let you know if things pan out for me.

Hey there,
Since you don't have alot to put down on a new CLS, you might want to look around for a used one. The 2001's are coming off lease now (I think that Acura's lease program is 39 months).
When I was at the dealership today, I saw a couple of 2001's that they had advertized for low 20's. A private sale (or some good negotiating w/ a dealer) would probably be at $18-21k.
Financing 18-21K at 5% for 5 years gets you into the $300+ a month payment club
The other options you mention are also ok. Getting a '98 is a good way to move up a few years (I like the 6th generation accords) and not spend alot of money.
You might also think about the leftover 2002 accords. I looked at a couple of V6 EX models and got prices of 1500-1700 under invoice (21k or so) w/o too much bargaining. If you look at the LX and other 4cly 2002 models, I'm sure you can get similiar discounts.
If you want to play w/ the numbers to see where your payment would be check out the auto loan calculator here:

Hope this helps,

well i used that bank caculator.
the good news is I think I can do it guys. I figured If I can get the CL-S for 28 grand. with no down payment at 3% (which is about acurate for a new car loan for 5 years) my payment is 500 a month
I could get it approximately 12-14 months before i graduate (which I graduate in june of '05) (i know it's a ways off) so I could get it like june of '04 I'll probably just wait for an '05. that fall i'll pick up a new CL.:P hopefully their still be around if not we can go to the CL's brother the TL

son of a gun i just remember something. probably in about a year I gotta buy a diamond for my g/f. (that's not cheap)(well you could get a fake diamond) but she wouldn't be happy if i had a kickass acura and a cheap diamound. then on top of it i told her if and when we get married i'd help make a healthy down payment on a house(like 4-5 grand) and then of course i need a new or newer car. then plus i told her I'd try(key word) to pay for some of the wedding if and when we get married. and i'm a man of my word so i wanna help some(i don't know how much but I am going to)
so I probably got 10-12 grand(atleast) in bills right there. looks like another 200,000 miles for the old accord . I work now 2 jobs(at a carry-out,and my lawn matience business(but that's just to pay for my g/f and college) plus i'm a volunteer fireman. but like in the winter the lawn matience stops of course and i just do the carryout). hell I'm going to have to find a 3rd job just to cover my bills.
I'll take donations on my CL.
it sucks to pick between a badass car and a girl. but the way I look at it the girl more of a long term investment. you leep them happy and so i might have to drive my accord till the wheels fall off but at least my girl happy.

yeah 3% is hard.. .4.9 % is going rate for acuras now... you can get 2.9 or something if you go with a different car... or what about mitsubishis got 0% for as long as you want... most other asian car companies do offer 0% now but nly for 2 years financing... only other place to get long term financing for 0% or less than 4% basically is american car companies... I know that lincoln has a deal going for 0% (escalade baby!)
