Car is now scarred for life...

Ok, this is the most screwed up thing that happened to me today.

Driving around with a buddy from work taking advantage of the sales and stuff after Christmas. I don't smoke (only socially), but my friend asked if he could smoke. I said sure, why not because i had all the windows and sunroof down and told him not to burn anything.

he offers me one, so I figured, "what the hell", and grabbed one.

So i'm driving with my cig in the left hand on 281 south when i take a bend and the sun is directly in my face. having sunglasses on, it didn't bother me too much, but I reached for the visor. guess which hand my stupid ass used? The one holding the freakin' cig and it burns a 5mm hole in the fabric right down to the cork-stuff. it doesn't look to bad, but it's pretty obvious and it's right where the handle would be if there was a handle on the driver's side.

my freakin' luck. i'm going to see if i can get some paint to at least cover up the cork-board area so it doesn't stand out too much.

Can you get a handle and install it on your side?

If it makes you feel any better, I hit the curb with my girlfriend in the car while I was making a right turn. The wheel (we don't have rims, right?) isn't scratched but my three year no curb contact went down the shitter.

Try some of that liquid fabric stuff they advertise on TV. Experiment on a piece of fabric that is similar to the liner in the car first.

Get a 9-11 ribbon and place it over the burn. It's a good thing to have anyway.

Only place I've seen it is on TV, but that sort of thing usually ends up in places like Wmart or BigLots.

I've never tried it, but it would seem like it would work OK for a small area.

Try this.......

AsseenonTV.com

Or something like that. They have a website to sell you that stuff so you don't have to wait until 2am to see that commercial.

Also, try cutting a small sliver of fabric from the inside of your panels or door trim. Paste it over the hole or just stitch it in, no one will noptice except you, since you know it's there.

Sorry about your car man, but I don't smoke and thats one of the reasons why. Now if it was an alcohol related stain - then you would have to be banned for alcohol abuse!!!

Yep, that's it. Here's the link -

The grab handle idea sounds decent too. (Unless you're tall and it'll smack you in the forehead every time you get out of the car...)

thanks guys.

i don't think i can use any of the trim anywhere else because it's the gray stretch fabric i'm talking about. it's pretty small, about 5mm in diameter (about 3/16" for you standard guys).

i'll check out that site and see if i can find anything. maybe i'll pick up some epil-stop plus too.
