ive been seriously thinking about getting a 2001 cl-s and i got some questions about mods i read alot about here. ive tried searching and looking in the faq forum but cant find what i want to know. my question is what do all these engine mods do exactly? for example, intakes, headers, pulleys etc. stuff like that. prices including installation always helps as well. could make a nice sticky as well unless im just blind and havent seen one yet.

well put simply, the mods make the car go faster (most of the mods) - e.g. intake, headers, exhaust, supercharger)

mods like lowering springs, sway bars, strut, shocks are all part of the suspension and change/imrpove the drivability of the car and also affect the look

the rest of the mods like lights, body kits, spoiler, stickers, larger rims etc...are really just asethetics in general (no flaming please...i am just braking it down in simple terms)

don't ge me wrong, the car isn't a bad car that needs all this work, its just that most of us on here are car enthusiasts and/or like a personlized look to their car and/or like to race their car

I would suspect some members would be more than willing to give you a ride in a non-modded car (if one exists in the '01 year) and a modded one. I would think this will be the way to tell if you like the car modded enough to get one. As long as your not looking for an investment you'll be fine.

Ummm, don't get rattled if someone is a bit short or impatient. Some of the folks pretty much never heard of sugar coating.

Use the search engine then come back with the ?'s.

 

aiite then bish, pay attention to the threads that come up and maybe you will learn something. This whole forum is about mods and such and such. Headers will get you about 25-30hp and is the best bang for buck mod. Intake will get you 5+hp. You will notcie more of this hp inthe upper rpm band. Oh yea, i fergot to say welcome

Welcome bro. Engine mods = more power, Suspension mods = better handling, Audio mods = make teh ears happy, body/lighting mods = make it look
