Car getting serviced....quick question(s)

OK, so the the CLS is at the dealership, getting serviced and the odo. reads 38k. The dealer just called me and said that the front rotors are warped, I was quoted a price of $280 to fix this. I'm guessing this isn't covered under warranty, but is there anything that I can do to avoid paying that price? I would rather not go anywhere else but the dealership to get any work done on the car.

rip off

they are charging you for a problem that is notorious on the cl.

what is the percentage of brake pad is still left on the car?

if you have like 40-60% still left YOU SHOULD actually complain that the rotors are warped and you can not believe they warp so easily. Also make sure to tell them you do not brake hard at all. they will probably give you some crap about how its a wear and tear issue and they can not fix it under warranty but if you have a good percentage of brake pad left how the hell is it wear and tear?

Take it to a different dealer, I was given new pads and they cut the rotors for FREE at about 38k on the odometer.

Try Park Avenue as suggested by Zapata. I used Marty Sussman in Mt. Laurel.

I got mine resurfaced first at 25K, then the dealership replaced the front rotors and pads at 35K.

Now I have 55K and brakes are ok.

Just called up the service dept. At 38k miles, I have 35% left on the pads, the guy said thats pretty good for the amount of miles I have used. As for the rotors, they're gonna be resurfaced, but not for free because it has passed 30k miles. Any ideas? Or am I just out of luck with acura service AGAIN?

Yeah that is very excessive, Lehigh Valley Acura has resurfaced mine several times and has never charged.

Damnit. So theres nothing I can do at this point at my dealership? The car's been there since yesterday. Atleast they had the courtesy to give me a TLS with 2000 miles on it as a loaner.

It definately depends on the dealership. My rotors have being resurface as least twice and replace twice for free.

I think it is at their discretion.

Simliliar experience to others on the board. Rotors resurfaced twice and given new front brake pads....all free of charge. You are getting ripped off.
Don't let them think you are getting an awesome loaner..I have gotten an '04 TL and TSX for loaners recently.
Taking care of your car is the priority.

It says on the bulletin that it is only for '99-'01 TLs and for '01 CLs only.

From what Jens has said, They have been instructed to cut down on this kind of "goodwill" warranty work. I really don't blame the dealer. You have over 35K miles on the stock parts.

I had 37k or more on mine and they did it for free. I guess it depends on where the dealer wants to rate on the list of dealers for service. PAA is #1 or something, and that would be why, cause they take good care of the customers.

That's the way I read it, they should resurface rotors and replace pads! My rotors were resurfaced at app. 35K, they were bad again at app. 45K. I told them I felt that the rotors should be replaced as they had neglected to replace the pads when they did the resurface and that obviously caused the rotors to warp again and I would not be comfortable with another resurface.. YMMV
