Cant get the garage opener to work

I have read and followed the directions many times. I have held the button until my arms felt like they were going to fall off. Are these things compatable with all openers? I have a sears opener and I think it has one of those revolving code things.

Anyone else had problems or do I need to have the "experts" take a look at it?

i have a revolving code. you need to set the code with the remote first then push a button on the actual opener then run back to your car and push the button. if that didn't make any sense, read the owners manual

I read the car's owner's manual and dont remember seeing anyting there. Maybe you are talking about the opener's manual? If that is the case, I dont have it. I bought the house "used".

Can you tell me where to look in the car's owner's manual if that is the case, otherwise a more detailed explination would be much appreciated.

Thanks!

you need to hold the remote of the opener inside the car. Then press down the homelink button and then press down on the remote....... Get it?

Ah Ha. This may just do the trick. Unfortunately, I will not be able to try it until tomorrow. The family will not appreciate the garage door going up and down at 10:30pm.

Kudos to the well mannered guy. Your parents should be proud. No joke. My neighbors kids cannot understand why I get irate when they test their mods on their POS '63 Dodge pickup at midnight on my dead end street. Next beer you drink, pretend I bought it for you. Siezeya.

Once the Homelink system in your car “learns” the signal from your existing remote you still need to “teach” this new signal to the opener.

There should be a button on the motor of the opener that will instruct it to do this.
When you’re up on the ladder pressing this button have someone else press the button in your car.

At least this is how my SEARS unit works.
