Can this Be Repaired?
So yeah, someone backs into my car and drives off. Never seen who did it. I have a $500 deductible. So my question is: Can I get this repaired on my bumper or do I have to buy a new one?

Yeah, I talked to the parts department at Acura. They havent seen my car yet. But they said to take and get it checked at an auto collision place to see if they can repair it instead of replace it.

repairing is a long and tedious job and you can easily mess up, we repaired my front bumper reinforcement instead of getting a new one and i got sick of all the plastering and molding and shaping, and it would never be as sturdy.. so basically if i get into a wreck the reinforcement wont do much to stop the hit

Sorry about the damage
A good shop can repair the bumper if that's the way you want to go.
Probably should turn in to insurance if you don't want to do it yourself. The shop may be able to save you some of your deductible, but not much because it's pretty cut and dry. It's about an $800 job with a new bumper, overhaul, clean and prep, taxes (PA at least), etc...

You could save a ton of $$ also if you get the bumper, have a shop paint it then replace it yourself. The rear bumper is easy to get off & put back on.

The actual repair and paint time is about $550, which includes $44 per hour labor rate (which varies by region) and $80+ in paint supplies. The additional money is in sales tax (7% here), NIB removal, clean and prep, wet sand and buff, car cover, etc...

IMHO, replace it guy! I have a close freind who owns a body shop here in Florida.....and trying to repair it is more of a pain in the ass than neccessary! Get a new one, and save yourself and a Bdy shop the hassle!

yeah its gonna cost about 500. 253.50 for the bumper, and 250 for the work. Im gonna look on ebay to see about these bumpers painted for 300 though. Its just im not sure i can rely on an Ebay purchase.

plan to buy a new one.
but... this seems a perfect chance to practice your body work skillz. try to fix it yourself on a weekend, and if it turns out like ass then go ahead and replace the bumper cover. if it turns out good, though, then you may have just saved a few hundred, and maybe learned something in the process.
