i just noticed my car makes a strange whining noise whenever i accelerate or decelerate at low speeds. its not a high pitched whine or anything, but its a low whine that gets higher as i accelerate, and vice versa. any ideas on what it could be?

I had the same problem and had to bring it dealership twice before they evn knew what i was talking about. They are currently putting a new tranny in. The guy told me that it was the gearing in the tranny so we will see when i get the car back. If i do not reply within a few days pm me and ill give you the details.

i have the same noise.. i started noticing it right before i blew my tranny about 3 weeks ago.. got the car back after they replaced the tranny and it still makes the noise... i'm on my 3rd tranny and am pretty much tired of this car, going to get rid of it soon.

 

Does it sound like a vacuum? If so, it could be a loose air intake cover. Open your hood and press down on it to see if the sound goes away. If you have an aftermarket intake, the sound is normal.

It almost sounds as if you had an amp hooked up witha bad ground. You can hear the acceleration outside though. I am hoping it goes away this time.

 

ever since i had my last tranny replaced, i've been hearing the same sound described. it does remind me of a SC whine, but much lower. and no, it doesn't sound like a vacuum sort of sound. i've been thinking of going back to the dealer to get it checked out to see if it's a fucked up belt or something of the sort.

 

yeah exactly..something liek an s/c whine but lower. if you ever get that diagnosed let me know what it was. i hope it's not a sign that my tranny is going out
