Can anyone help me identify this fitting?

Ok, so I just got my new CL and don't have a manual yet. I see what looks like a fitting down in front of the engine next to the mount. I'm wondering if anyone can help me identify it? I park on gravel and haven't felt like climbing under the car yet so I'm having trouble identifying when it goes.

Thanks in advance.

(yes I know the engine compartment is disgusting... It's going to be a long road to bringing her back :/)

Great thanks! I was checking for vacuum lines to the motor mounts and for any problem lines to "hopefully" solve a ticking noise (praying its not the valves)

Yes, the 6 speed ROCKS! Thanks

Thanks, and definitely... I'm already in love LOL

Quick question on the 6 spd... when I am up in RPMs, say above like 3K, and I let off the gas, the deceleration seems to be a little less smooth--more jerky--than I would expect... common for these cars, or might I have another issue to solve?

OK, thanks Rajca. Just trying to figure out everything and "assess" what needs to be repaired/tweaked... starting to detail the nasty engine bay this weekend, and the EGR valve if so motivated and the weather cooperates

Update for completeness... finally got some NGK lasers and found CHAMPION spark plugs in the damn car, with burned edges on the ceramic portion nonetheless! Replaced all the plugs and she is like a new car! The jerkiness at low speeds got 10x better.

I guess this is as an appropriate place as any to post since I haven't found a bleeding DIY thread yet with pictures... This is the nipple I would use to bleed the clutch fluid while I refill it with honda dot 3 brake fluid?

Then I would do the 4 brake nipples similarly... Driver Front, Pass Front, Passenger Rear, Driver Rear?

How many bottles of fluid should I have on hand to all 5 bleeds for a first-time "bleeder"?

Thanks everyone.

Theres DIYs for bleeding brakes, the clutch is simple.

1)Attach hose to nipple
2)Put other end in a bottle filled with alittle fluid (stops air from going back up the hose)
3)Pop the clutch master cylinder cap
4)Top it off
5)Pump 10x, hold clutch to floor
6)Open bleeder screw, let drain until nothing comes out

repeat 4-6 until you get clean fluid

I forget the sequence for the brakes, but its the same method.

Awesome, thank you CD... I'm waiting on a new bypass valve actuator and will complete the process once various engine components are all back together!

No problem. You will need a second person to pump and hold the clutch to the floor when you drain it, or you can get one of the one person bleeder kits.

i'd spray all the surface rust stuff with some rust inhibitor.

I even took the liberty of spraying down all the brake lines with liquid wrench. Rust is a plague. Stop it early b4 it gets outta hand.

that front trans mount looks like is got some wear on the top... examine the bottom and see if its got any hairline cracks... If one goes, it makes the other 2's life THAT much harder so... i'd make sure ur front trans mount and ur passenger side mount is in mint condition.

that's my 2cents

Good advice. I'm in the process of trying to restore the engine bay little by little. I just cleaned the bay again and sprayed by valve covers (see photo below with front cover done and rear untouched)... replacing the bypass valve actuator while I'm at it (and since I lost the damn little wheel inside it during my restoration!).

If anyone knows of a good rust "converter" product I can use on the parts I can't remove just yet (such as clamps, etc. on the firewall) that won't harm the good paint/parts, I'd appreciate it.

Thanks again... I know I need to replace the front and side motor mounts (holding out for the the "new" ones hopefully), but will probably replace all of them along with the trans mounts and the brackets that you are supposed to reuse.

Haha ya they look pretty good. I wonder if you could replace the clutch bleed valve with one too... Knowing me I would have to spend the $$ for the stainless ones tho, so it'll be cheaper to buy the one-man bleeder or to buy my friend a starbucks coffee to help LOL.
