Exclamation Calling All 2nd Gen Know It Alls

Lord Helmet and myself are taking on the task of making one of these ( https://acurazine.com/forums/showthread.php?t=179727) for our lovely section. With the making of this, we hope to ease the transition from noob to expert. We will try and include everything that we possibly can in order to make it the most informative 2nd gen CL thread EVER.

If you think you would like to take part in it, simply post once (1 time) in this thread and when we begin we will assign you a part to take.

I would like to thank you in advance for taking this on. It will help hundreds of new members, veteran members and everyone else that shares the passion of the Acura CL.

Members Taking Part.

Chod's hasn't been updated in years... it doesn't include alot of stuff pertaining to the 03 6spds, and other recent discoveries, new issues, or current products offered by vendors...

I've got a a few pdf's that I can contribute (brake tsb, maintenace schedule, 03 new items, etc...).

https://acurazine.com/forums/showthread.php?t=178269

Having a static page (like Klepto did in 1G CL) is fine, but I prefer the format of the 3G garage and what Jonesi did in the A/V forum...

3G Garage: https://acurazine.com/forums/showthread.php?t=84834

A/V FAQ: https://acurazine.com/forums/audio-video-electronics-navigation-22/%2A%2Aaudio-video-diy-info-faq-all-models-%2A%2A-299065/

With the format that Jonesi has, links are provided to threads, so that discussion can continue in the thread for a particular subject...

A mix of a static page, and one that is dynamic via member comments in active threads will avoid the issue of a FAQ not being updated...

Another issue is where to host images/pdf's etc... My stuff is on my webhost, but If I get hit by a bus (or sell my cls and buy something else, get banned, etc), those links will die with me...

Some one really needs to clean up the auto tranny stickies that EricL started (like this one):

https://acurazine.com/forums/showthread.php?t=74275

Me and Jonesi were having this same conversation the other night (after discussing LH's "Noob" thread, and other recent events).

We don't have to create an all encompassing FAQ, but can start one and add stuff to it as noobs ask questions, we search and find a good thread on the topic, and add it to the faq.

I think I could handle this. Probably something related to Comptech's stuff; specifically the supercharger. Maybe discuss forced induction as it pertains to the 2nd Gen CL.

I've already started a document.

I was adding info on headers but here's what I need if someone wants to help me find it...

I was looking up header information and I've got some good links for all headers brands except OBX and Comptech. I've found Comptech vs. OBX but not separate threads on them. I do find tons of "Comptech headers installed" threads but nothing discussing them in general.

First thing with headers should discuss that headers are just pipes. The same diameter pipe is going to yield the same gains no matter what brand. The main difference is fitment and reliablity. Not sure what "general" information you are seeking.

Well, that is what I was getting at.

The threads I have found on the other ones talks about issues with the brands and stuff. I found good ones on Megans and Alphawerks that discuss their issues in hopes of lessening the questions such as "should I buy these?" threads.

Ok guys......heres the scoop. We got a GREAT crew going with this. I had only intended for there to be 10 members but 16 is better. We dont need anymore members, I think if we add more we will just be adding to confusion.

I think this along with pm's or direct emails will be the quickest most effective way to get our facts straight.

Helmet and I will create a layout this weekend and PM it to everyone the first of next week to get feedback on what we want changed/how we want things layed out. From there we will start adding a WEALTH of information to seperate topics. Pick and choose, i'd rather not assign topics/subjects because that reminds me of school, and school sucks.

Our thread (hopefully) will be complete within 2 weeks and will be complete with very valuble information/reviews/aftermarket parts/noob advice/DIY's/and everything else you can possible think of.

AZ doesnt allow distribution of AIM/Yahoo S/N's due to all the wacko's out there

We could just post up stuff here... use this as the working document...

I really don't see the need to work offline, if everything is going to end up on the forum anyways...

Once a post in this thread is "done" it can be split out into it's own thread by a mod using the split thread process (opposite of a thread merge)....

I have to help LH w/ some research, then I'll probably put together some stuff on pollen filters or wiper blades...

Ok, I've cleaned up some of the directories on my webhost. There might be alot of broken links in my prior posts now, but I'll be watching my 404 error file so I should be able to fix the threads that have broken links as I people view them.

If you find a post by me w/ a broken link, let me know...

Here's the new directory I've setup for my "acurazine" documents. Check it out...

I stole that format from Jonesi

I know you guys are working on a format, so I figured I just throw that up there to get us started... Since the stuff we're putting together will be posted, we have to work within the confinds of the VBulletin forum framework to a degree. I don't thing getting to fancy really matters. We just need to put all the (links to) info in one place...

It's just to show that we can start off small and just keep adding stuff as the questions come up (and we search and find thread for the noobs)...

Jordan and Chris, make sure to check out that directory I listed as there are some things I didn't list in my formatting example (2001 dealer prep pdf, seatback problem fix, etc).

oh, in case anyone is wondering what the VB code is so that they can add to my list or make up their own list:

HTML Code:
[list=i][*][url=http://url_of_your_link]text for link[/url]
[*][url=http://url_of_your_link]text for link[/url]
[/list]
The explaination of the VB code stuff is here:

https://acurazine.com/forums/misc.php?do=bbcode

Here's where we want to get to eventually:

Proof that some people do know how to search...

Lots of old threads that linked to stuff I've posted since I moved the documents into a "special" folder on my webhost kicked out today...
