CAI and engine noise
As I was driving back home from a 2 hour trip I noticed when I was cruising at 85mph the engine was at 2300 - 2500 and was pretty quite. Im just wondering, if I get the CAI is it going to be loud at 2300 to 3000 rpm? cause I would hate to drive w/ a loud engine for longdistance. I know the CAI will rip it up at around 5000+ rpm but just want to make sure its not too loud at cruising speeds. This was one of the reasons I opted out for an exhaust, because I couldn't stand the noise for long periods of times.

If it's anything like the 1st gen...the noise is pretty low when you are just crusing at a sustained speed...But if you hit the gas a little more, it will get a little louder and so on.

Nova,
I can only speak to the effect of the Xephyr Performance C.A.I with any degree of reliability so here goes. Under normal acceleration with shifting around 3500RPM the Xephyr Performance CAI is nearly undetectable audibly. At 3800 - 6900 it will produce a throaty snarl that to most is reasonably audible but not anoyingly loud. At highway speeds it is also undetectable providing the Tach is under ~3500 RPM; which under normal driving and shifting is generally under 3000 up to 90? mph. In short you still gain the improved engine respiration and intake volume without the acoustic invasion. Under hard acceleration it is deep and throaty (not "tin" like resonation). Hope this helps
