only in ss mode on my 01 cl-s i smell burning once i engage and start shifting either up or down. i am due for my 60k checkup/tranny flush.

could this just be fluid or is it def a bad tranny?


it is absolutely problemless in regular automatic,d3,d4,d5,r, and while shifting etc between them...............(just went to hot import nights boston,230mile trip and heard nothing bad but was in d5)

 

Could be that the wiring is faulty when in SS mode.

 

Does it smell like burning plastic? I'd have the dealer check that out asap, and I probably woundn't use SS mode until then.

 

If it was the transmission you would probably still smell it in D. Could it be coincidence that you only smelt it while in SS mode b/c coincidentally your AC was not on recirculate at that time? Try driving around while in town and heavy traffic in D5 and see if you can smell it, and make sure your AC is not on recirculate.

 

hahah just needed a scheduled tranny flush anyway and i think i was just buggin out and smelling nearby carrpy trucks and duptrucks. it just got nice in upstate ny and i had the windows down and i think coincidentally smelled a shitty truck pass by but was sketched out and took it out of ss mode in fear. just had it at tranny shop and nothng wrong,


yuour ight about your input though and it would smell all the time if it was a tranny issue.

just my own paranoia.

Jealous over what? The fact you were the only CL they've checked out that didn't need a new tranny?
