Burned CD's Skipping?

Anyone have issues playing burned CD's compared to regular CD's? I'm having issues with mine. Like brand new burned disc, no scratches and certain songs skip like a MOFO.. the songs in question are all around the 192kbs mark before being converted to cd format.

any thoughts? perhaps just a cleaning on the laser?

Try to play them in other machines and see any diff. I mainly play burned CDs in my car and have rarely had a problem, usually it's the disc, not my player. Certaon disc brands may not be as compatible with your CL stereo.

Your burning them too fast. Slow down the burn rate. Or your burner just sucks.

I've burned up to 52X and never had any problems in the CL. In the Jetta though, nothing over 24X will play.

I've had lots of trouble with dark colored disks friends gave me to burn music on. I think they are not reflective enough on some machines. I always use silver ones. The black and dark blue ones someone gave me had burn trouble, the reds, yellows, and orange seemed okay. I wouldn't use the dark ones after that.

I had a friend play a burned CD in my car. It didn't play but it was mainly because of the label he put on it made it too tight of a fit for the CD player.

Yeah, maybe its the CD, don't use some cheapo no brand CD, get a name brand like memorex and try burning. Usually mine plays fine and I burn anywhere from 24-48x. you should just hook up an mp3 player like an ipod and just avoid CDs like i do now..lol

It is no question it is the speed at which you are burning the CDs.

Used to support CDR software and my guess is when audio discs are burned at high speed, the BurnProof technology is kicking in and the Acura headunit for whatever reason doesn't like it when it encounters a disc where BurnProof may have been activated. Stupid I know but when I started burning at 4x I have yet to have one disc skip on me.

Should not be media related

I actually had an issue with some Maxell CD'Rs. I went through about 3/4 of the case of 50 and never had a problem with them playing in the car. Then (out of no where) the last 10-12 that I tried burning just kept skipping like crazy....worked fine at home and on computer but wouldn't work in the car. Then I bought an inexpensive case of Philips CD'rs and they worked perfectly. I always burn all of my CD's at 16x or 24x without any issues.

I've had this same issue but it turned out to be due to Windows Media player. Our IT guy was telling me it's one of the worst programs to burn with.

99% of what I play is on burned disks. Never had any problem at all playing them in the CL or any other car I was in. Various burn speeds from 2x(i have some real old CDR's) to 52x. All different brands.

Same here

I have had the same problem, I used MAXELL , I burned them with my brand new Burner and they skip real bad,but after five days magically they are ok, some times they skip sometimes they dont...Maybe I should burn them at a lower speed then play it in my home stereo a few times and then take it to the car! ...wierd Shiza..

the brand of CD matters, sony and kyphermedia are two horrible brands to use. Stay away from those and don't burn too fast either. Burn slower lets say less than 24x, heck just burn at like 16x or some other conservative speed and don't do anything on the comp while burning. It won't take that long to burn. Give taht a shot

I've had the same problem before. CD's that used to work in my old car (1994 Land Cruiser) would just start skipping when they got around to track 10 or above and the further it went the more it skipped. I started burning CD's at 4x instead of 48x and now they never skip. I never bothered to experiment with burning on different brands. I'm using Memorex 52x CD-R's right now and they're working fine at 4x.
