A Bundle of Questions...

Hey Guys,

I'll be doing the 6MT conversion soon, but I needed to ask a few questions first.

1. How often does the clutch usually have to get changed?

2. What's the difference between the supercharger for the 6MT and 5AT? ... Is it even possible to use the supercharger for the 5AT on the 6MT? I've seen quite a few going for sale for such a cheap price.

3. What ATF do you recommend for the 6MT Tranny?

4. Where is there a Dyno in FL for all of you FL TL'ers.. I'll need original numbers to compare to the future setup.

5. Is a tranny cooler necessary or at least helpful?

I'll have more questions on the way, but if anyone can answer these for me at the moment, that'd be awesome. Thanks!

There is a Dyno at CarTek in Davie, I've heard many good thing about them from friends and read online. That is where I got my crank pulley installed and I was satisfied. http://www.cartek-tuning.com/. A TL member did a 6MT conversion on his TL with a ton of pictures and pretty detailed information- https://acurazine.com/forums/technology-16/anybody-have-sony-t616-132270/

fsttyms1 did it, and its a sticky in the forums.

As for the clutch, the one on my beemer was replaced after about 180k miles. Dunno if it was changed before that, but it lasted for 80k miles in our hands (me and my brother).

Any ATF should be fine, as long as it is the right one. We use royal purple though.

You need to do your research. Don't think this is easy or cheap to do.
www.dynojet.com They have a search that will yield dyno places in your area.
The tranny uses Honda Manual trans fluid.
Clutch should last a long time with normal use & even heavy use you should still get over 50K miles.
Auto SC can be used you just need some parts to fit a 6MT car. CT has them for sale. Shouldn't be more the a few hundred dollars.
There's no cooler on a manual.
Good luck

Don't worry, I've been doing research for quite a while now; getting everything I need and I know fsttyms1 did the conversion, but he told me to ask you guys since you guys are more knowledgeable about this stuff than the guys in the TL forum... hence the reason I asked.

Unless I miss my guess, no one has done the conversion on a CL.

no tranny cooler needed, and if you really want to put one, you'll need to add a pump

ATF = Automatic Transmission Fluid
so you'll need to put Honda's new formula for manual transmission fluid

difference between 5AT SC and 6MT SC is that the throttle body setup ain't the same
5AT has VSA (2 throttle bodies) and 6MT doesn't have VSA (only 1 throttle body).
so the length and place to fit the SC output on the intake is not alike.
