Unhappy Brake Problems

ok so i have the EBC 3GD sport rotors with the EBC greenstuff..and i was swearing by them for a long time until i started seeing rust on them!!! their zinc coated to prevent corrosion. So why the hell are the rusting out already its probly been like 4-6 months i dont remember.. anyone else have this problem.

They have a year warranty so i can return them. I thought they arent supposed to rust.
my other question is i think im gunan get some of those DBA if i do return these. something along the line of these

do you guys agree with this move...and for those of you who have it, do u think these ones will rust?

thanks in advance

Where is the rust at? The zinc coating runs off as soon as you start using the brakes. Al least where the pads touch the rotor. If the rust is on the contact area thats ok, you probably have not been driving a lot lately. My Jetta had them and when it was park for a week there was rust on the contact surface. Thats ok. As soon as you hit the brakes it will be gone.

If the rust is on the non contact areas then thats not right and I'd contact EBC. I'm still waiting on my EBC rotors to get here, and I'm mating them with the Yellowstuff's.

I'd take the DBA's over the EBC's but I don't think you are going to get your money back. The'll just send you a new set if anything.

The zinc coating has been known to be dissolved by certain ingredients in wheel cleaners.
(BTW the coating is only on the parts of the rotor that aren't swept by the pads)

I wouldn't worry about a little rust. As others have said the zinc coat wears off the contact area and unless there is a significant layer of rust, there is nothing to worry about.

I also have the EBC 3GD rotors and they did rust after about 6 months but the rust is easy to knock off with a good couple of stops.

I opted for the EBC RedStuff brake pads though.

I am sorry to hear you don't like them because I love mine. BTW, as far as I know rust is always an issue on the rotors as they are constantly being worn down and thus exposing a new layer of metal.

The EBC 3GD + Red stuff pads stop really well for me but I have to say that they sometimes make more noise than the stock breaks but such is the price for many performance parts.
