Bought it back

Sold me CL a few years ago, and the opportunity came to buy it back. Of course I said yes. He just had some work done to it, and now it's broken. How convenient. Anyway, he had clutch slave and master cylinder replaced, and things didn't go so well afterwards. Trans will go into first and second, but will not go into other gears. Everything on the shifter looks attached, was hoping the left cable was off. He did say his "mechanic" had to move some lines or something, so perhaps he messed up one of the cables? Haven't looked into it yet, and won't have a chance for a while. I hope it's not the shifter, as finding a stock 6 speed shifter is not the most easy task. Guess I should have mentioned it's an 03 Type S.

You can find an aftermarket clutch 'slave' on rockauto; however, the #7 clutch master has been 'discontinued' so maybe he or his mechanic tried some other master?

If you know where to get the OEM clutch master cylinder, the guy on the thread below would like to know.

I don't know where he got the master from, but clutch works great. I was able to look at it some. I pulled the shifter out. I got it into reverse by pulling both cables fully back. It will go in third and the other gears with the shifter in, but pop right back out. It will not go into reverse with the shifter. Sort of at a loss. Shifter work smoothly, no binding. I'll look at it some more, but I have other projects. Was hoping this would be a quick fix.

I don't think that's it. More symptoms: It does the same for 5 and 6. It will stay if I use the cable, without the shifter. I'm thinking either the cables have stretched, or something is out of whack somewhere. Especially since I can move the shifter like I'm going into R, but it won't go. If I disconnect the cable and pull on it, it will go into R. Sorry I'm not responding sooner, feeling like crap, and not spending a lot of time outside with the car.

Just an FYI, since the CL-S6 change wires have been discontinued the guy in the thread below states that 2002-2006 RSX cables can be fitted.

More updates. With the cables disconnected, I can move the levers on the trans, and it goes into every gear just fine. At this point, I'm almost sure it's the cables. Thanks for staying around, it seems like all of the Cl guys are gone. I'm going to check out that thread.

Ordered the RSX cables, set there. Found a stock shifter this morning, so I ordered that. I think I'll try the shifter first, and then the cables. Who knows what will fix it, but I don't want to do both at once and not know.

Replaced the shifter, no joy. Cables will arrive while I'm out of town for work, so I will have to change those when I get back. That's the only thing left.
