For some reason the Bose system in this car isn't up to par with previous Bose systems I've had in other cars... I had a 98 Audi A6 whose Bose system was incredible so I expected the same if not better from a car 5 years newer...heck even the Bose system in my 1996 Infiniti I30 is better than the one in the CL... My question is if theres anything that can be done to make the radio louder without compromising all the Bose parts?>>>...

Toss em out. Still intact, but having them OUT of the car is best. Once I save up enuf, I know I'm ripping out the HU and speakers, since the sub is already replaced. No matter what you do, nothing can really improve the sound coming from it. I've tried messing with the sound of the CD itself to get better sound out of the system, but nothing really works. Bypass the EQ maybe, but its best to just upgrade.

Never really liked bose much. Overpriced and overrated IMO, but thats just me. No offese to you though.

If i recall correctly, the bose system in the CL is WEAK (they don't advertise how many watts it is because it's something ridiculously low, like 185watts total), and the sound quality agrees. I felt it was always decent if you listened to top-40 music at low to mid volume, but for any quality music, you will need a subwoofer (i had a basslink) at the least, and that was challenging to get it right so that it doesn't drown out the music.

i would replace everything if i had the time and money.

Get a basslink & you'll be fine. All that's missing is some low end. It's cheap, easy to install, takes little trunk space, & sounds fine with the stock setup. Search the audio forum for basslink input. I had 1 in each of my 3 CL's.
