Bose CL/TL Type S stereo's?

Does the TL type S have different Bose speakers than its CL counterpart?

I don't think so. Not my expertise though.

Let me check the part numbers....

edit: The rear speakers have different part numbers. They are different parts (at least in the rears)

the CL does not have a subwoofer like the TL does so they get 6*9 rear speakers vs the 6" and the sub

The TL has 4 6" speakers and 1 subwoofer.
The CL has 2 6" speakers and 2 6x9 speakers.

That never made any sense to me. There is enough rear deck room on the CL. The TL stock system sounds so much better then the CL's.

the cl system is also amplified externally, while the tl has an internal amp...

CL/CL-S has SIX speakers. Two tweeters on the door at the base of the A pillar.

PREMIUM MUSIC SYSTEM

The Acura/Bose Music System is standard equipment on the CL.
Designed and built as an integral part of the car, this sound system is engineered to take advantage of the CL’s unique acoustics. All six
speakers have been carefully selected and placed and the bass
response has been enhanced by adding co-axial speakers to the rear parcel tray.

If you look at the CL, the navigation drive sits below where the sub sits on the TL.
As for the TL, their navi drive sits where our left rear speaker sits. So unless they put a 6" on each side of our rear seats, then thats why the deck is different for both cars.

IIRC the amp for the CL is on the right side of the trunk and on the TL it's behind the head unit. Still external just way harder to get at.

yup and the tweeter make a big difference.

In the end if you look at both setups they are still shitty paper speakers though.

2 good 6x9s will produce more bass than the shit 9" sub Acura put in the rear deck of the TL "If" you were to put a better amp in you can get a little more bass out of it but its not really worth it.

.
No, the TL's Amp is built into the HU, the unit behind the radio is the EQ

that's funny i always thought the cl sound system was great.

it never distorts, and is really clear.

now i don't care about base.. mind you i'd like more, but hey for a stock system on a 10 year old car. the fact they still work good as new is amazing to begin with and 10 years ago that sound system was da BOMB.

it's electronics... what do u honestly expect.

in 2-3 years w/e it is is obsolete and or 3xs cheaper

my 01cls sounds great, i havent heard the TL though. all i changed was the budget brand head unit to an alpine, the speakers are stock. only thing i noticed is that if i go more than 1/2 way on volume the treble gets distorted and the bass cuts out. a single 500-1000w sub should fix it and a new amp (i think) not my specialty...

The CL's system is so much better than its 4 door cousin. It has so much more clarity than the TL. The 6x9's were also 2-ways. I had an 03 CL-S6 and enjoyed the stereo.

this should be played at high volume....

WHAT!!??!!?? I CAN'T HEAR YOU!!! MY EARDRUMS ARE BLEEDING FROM MY 18" 10,000w SUB WITH A 20,000W AMP.

btw, the above combo exists for a mere $6,049.95 but you need your own box.

go to www.onlinecarstereo.com check it out, they also have speakers and subs starting around $20 no joke. im sure that the $20 subs will last a few.....minutes.

i also looked up a factory head unit replacement for the 01 CLS w/o navi starting at $980. who would pay that?

The bass isnt bad actually if you have it turned up all the way and listen to it at a low volume (2-4 clicks) but I doubt any of us listen to it that low most of the time.

I added a pair of 10s and they give me more then enough bass to supplement the stock system.

does anyone know if there are stock crossovers for the tweeters or they just run straight to the amp?

I believe the wires go from the radio to the amp to the speakers.

What I did on my car to improve the sound system a lot is putting my music on my Droid X2 and using a music equalizer app. I play my music through the stock system using a Monster brand tape player plug thing and use the equalizer app to adjust the sound and right now its clear and has a solid bass.

i love my current CL speakers setup. What i did was i have added an infinity subwoofer to help with the low end. I highly recommended it for those who wants more quality low end (the addition of a sub to me is to enhance the quality of the overall sound and not to win "I have more bass than you yo" competition)

I've been looking to upgrade the sound system on my 01 CL.

Btw I do agree the base isnt good, just alright if you blast the volume all the way. But overall not bad for a now 20+ year car.

Anyways getting back on track I've been looking to find somehting with more punch. Found this brand called DS18 on Amazon. Was wondering if anyone has heard of them or already has them installed. They have the tweeters, mids, and coaxials and also sells amps
