blown tire

Well I had a shitty night on my way home from work tonight. I swung wide when I was making the turn onto my street and I ended up hitting the curb right where a sewer drain is located. Needless to say I blew a front tire and badly scratched two rims.

Too bad I don't have the money to get new wheels, I guess I'll just keep them for a while until I get the money.
By the way, who do I see about joining the scratched rims club?

I am now back to stock tires/wheels. One of the Konig was leaking air, so I put the stock tire/wheel on the rear driver's side. This was a very bad idea. I was taking a ramp at high speed (some 50+) and the stock tire lost traction. I oversteered baddly till I was 90 degrees with motion of the car. I tried hard to correct the oversteer and ended hitting the curb head on. Lucky, I hit from bottom. Immediate inspection revealed a bent towing hook and a bent front driver's side rim. I may have minor-misaligment issue to be dealt with later.

I ordered a couple of konig and nittos. The nittos are in but the koning are on 2-weeks back order.

My first Impression for the nittos is that they are sticky and pick dirt and gravel like a hoover. The handling of the car has been improved greatly. Not much added noise at HW. The ride at ripple digit speed is as if you are are doing some 55!. Steering feel improved. I high recommend the new tire/wheels if you have some $1,500 to spend.

Drive safely.

You blew a tire?
I had to bring my friend to a mechanic once to pick his old Tercel up. The guy said he blew a seal. Why can't they leave his personal life out of it and fix the damn thing?
