Blip Throttle on downshifts?

I always blip the throttle on the downshift and never ever drive in auto. Wait like half a second after shifting then hit the throttle (like a heel and toe) to match revs to speed so you don't kiss the windshield w/ yer face. I've been doing that since I bought the car and wonder if that will help alleviate the problems known to occur w/ our trannies. I'm up to 58.3K no sweat! Does anyone else do this?
