Best way to launch a 03 six speed?

I do not believe in abusing machinery, but on the other hand, I am a flight instructor, part time, and we teach pilots how to take the airplane to the limit for safety reasons.

For instance, ALL takeoffs are always performed at MAXIMUM POWER.

But in the CL-S, first gear gives me problems. Once into second gear and above, I can drive the thing like a bat out of hell, but in first, I just feel like I am abusing the thing if I just mash the pedal to the floor.

What is the best way to get the maximum performance from this thing from a dead stop, without wheelspin? Thanks in advance.

Slip the clutch while keeping the minimum tire adhesion possible.

Some dude here at work who claims he's an expert at racing told me when you race your car, you need to DROP the clutch...not SLIP...the clutch. I tend to listen to you guys more....curious to see if he would do that to his '03 Audi...

If you think your're abusing your car, try driving the S2000. The salemen tell you that you have to abuse it to get to drive the way it should. Don't feel you're abusing it, because your not. Just take it to red line without a worry.

Depends on the car.... If his Audi is all wheel drive, he could literally redline it and drop the clutch and take off like a bat out of hell.

Try that in a FWD or RWD car and your tires will go up in smoke.

EEEEEKKK!

Tried that one on my 6 speed. The front end hopped and hammered so much, I babied her and granny shifted for a day because I felt that guilty.

If you could get traction, and dump the clutch, then fine. Otherwise you usually just get a shitload of smoke as the tires heat up enough to stick, and you lose 1/2 second off the line.

I think you buddy at work is full-o-shit.
