Best Tip....

Just curious as to what everyone thinks was the best tip for their CL they saw on those board...

For me, it was easily cupholder 2.0...but followed closely by waxing your rims to help keep the break dust off.

What is your best tip?

Waxing Rims??? Never heard that one...

I'll have to give it a try though. Those Rims are a motha' F'er to keep clean & shiny.

Waxing seems to keep more brake dust off, and definately makes them easier to clean...anyone else have any tips? I am looking for some maybe I missed.....

I think that guy who did the V-1 hard-wire instructions is the best !!!

But seriously,
The car wash warnings and introduction to ZAINO are what I learned online from previous generations/locations of this CL group.

Things I wouldn't have known if not for a-cl:
1) Zaino - keep dem water spots away!
2) Replacing those awful road lamps
3) Closing the trunk via the inner grip - no oily finger marks on my Zaino!
4) Leaving your lights on so they come on when you unlock the car. Cool!
5) CAI - 'nuff said.

It's not technically a handle, I'm not sure what it is. It's just some flat surface. I have a '01 CL Type S, and I just reach in and pull the trunk down to close it. To be honest I don't even know what I'm holding - I just do it! Try it!

The addittion of the handle was late in the 2001 run, my car doesn't have it, ones built later in the year did have it. It may have been around the time of the cup holder change?

I've got one of the earliest cars and i don't have the trunk handle or the upgraded cup holders. Both would be cool, i need to get the cupholder upgrade.

This cupholder change is news to me as well... just what is this cupholder change about anyway?

This is what I do too ... I never forget the time my Honda Accord was broken in to in a lot and roughly 5 dollars in change was stolen from the change holder... so watch that thing

Truck closing (dents!) and Wheel and Tire care...

My build date was 07/00 and I don't have it either... (I do have the new cup holder)

It is very important (whatever technique you prefer) to not keep applying pressure once the lid is heading downward (my guy who does "celebrity detailing" told me about some CLS owners who learned the hard way about "whamming" the trunk lid down). The trunk lid is very light, and some idiots mashed the lid down (all the way past the "thunk" sound of the latch grabbing) and managed to put a nice big palm sized dent in the rear lid. (Easy on the lid -- I know others do something else, but I just gently raise the hood up and getting it moving downward with a gently pull on the "Acura" emblem (I think I apply all of 1-oz. of pressure and given a nice, even stroke, to gets it moving downward). Can also be closed from the inside (without the "inside handle", but takes more patience then I have).

-- Other tips, like the wax for wheels and/or Zaino on the wheels and tires and wheels --

Re: WHEEL and Tire Protection:

The Zaino ZFX/Z2 + Z6 works nicely for protecting the wheels and keeping the brake dust down. The P21 stuff (and other wheel designed cleaners) also should make the wheels very easy to clean with a good wheel brush! Finally, don't forget to keep some good tire goop on the rubber (Zaino Bros' Perfect Tire Gloss Protectant, 303 Aerospace Protectant, or other UV protector to keep those tires nice and safe from UV and other nastiness!

Zaino OR Wheel WAX:

-Zaino Z2, ZFX etc: www.zainobros.com

OR

-Wheel Wax from Tire Rack: http://www.tirerack.com/tires/accessories/wheelwax.html

Clean up wheels and tires and protect them:

http://www.properautocare.com/tire---wheels.html
OXO Ergonometric cleaning brushes
P21S Wheel Cleaner
Other tire shine/UV protection products (Eagle, 303, Meguiar's, etc)
Eagle One Tire Swipes (for applying your goo)

GRIOT'S GARAGE RUBBER CLEANER

some more -

1. if it rains where you live carry a towel w/ you, our drip rails are shit and my door panel always gets wet when i have to roll the window down.

2. never push on the gas pedal until the trans is completely engaged.

3. if your playing on the freeway stay in full auto mode. there's been a couple times when i tried to grab 3rd in ss and the light just blinked cuz i was going too fast. in auto, under full throttle you'll nearly always grab vtec.

One of those true but picky details, I just keep a glovebox full of take-out napkins
