They should find out what the differences are if any.
I should email consumer reports.

I've always used Shell. I don't remember who told me this but I heard that it's not good for your car if you mix gasoline brands. Maybe it's an old wives tale but I've never had problems with Shell so I'll continue using it..

I use any gas except "Citgo", and "Getty". They usually have low prices, but I am very suspicious about their gas quality.... In fact on my old car I could feel degraded performace from their gassoline

I read an article in Maxim about the quality of different gas. It was based on the actual measured octane level and purity. Mobil came out number 1 with an octane at 93.9 (93 advertised) and 99% clean. Chevron came in second, with Shell in thrid. I don't remeber the actual numbers. Since I read the article, I've been using Mobil.

If you have an old car with little horse power, you will feel the difference between good and bad gassoline ( with the same octane rating)
On my 200kmiles toyota camry whenever I put 93 octane from Getty or Citgo, I was feeling weak power.... compared to good names like Taxico or Mobil.. that's why they sell gas cheap...

Thanks for the info.
The dealer told me to use Mobil and have ever since.
But you have to hunt for them sometimes here in CT.

I will stick to Mobil

Totally,

Comming from living in Chicago, and then to "COW POKE VILLE" where I am now (kansas). They consider 91 octane to be premium!!! Funny how a lot of people use cheap gas to save a few pennys. If you have a ford escort, or a V8 SUV ... ok...

Don't use the cheap stuff!! Buy a cheap car to be cheap! Would you fuel your body with bad food? (thats a bad question to ask)

I wont even fillup at Sams or Costco, I can her her pinging whenever I do...

I miss my 94 Octane! and 101-104 in Chicago.... sniff ... sniff

This is what Gulf Oil say about their gasoline:

Gasolines

Today's car engines are built to use fuel efficiently, demanding more from the fuel that is put into them. That is why Gulf gasoline is formulated with
Advent 21, our performance detergent additive. Advent 21 is specifically designed to reduce intake valve deposits. In fact, our gasolines surpass the toughest standards in the industry for deposit resistance.

Gulf gasolines keep critical engine parts clean and running at peak performance. And cleaner engines produce fewer harmful emissions, so you are helping to protect the environment, as well. Gulf gasoline meets your driving styles, engine requirements and budgets.

The way I see it is that it is best to find a particular station (or stations) that carry "the good stuff", rather than pinning brands as a whole as good or bad.

With the naked eye you can not always tell which gas is better
