I have the Viper 550ESP(DEI) & have no issues. I had the same one on 3 other cars, also never had a problem. I have a 4 button remote. 1 for lock, 1 for unlock, 1 AUX, & 1 panic. I have to press the lock & unlock buttons for 2 seconds, & the car will start. Aux is my trunck release. I can have another channel if I want one which could be auto down windows, or something like that. To use that channel I need to press Aux, & panic buttons for 2 seconds.

isn't your car a stick. You know it's illegal to have a remote starter on a manual car. Plus you'll have a difficult time finding a shop to do it for you. My buddy installed one on his Jeep by himself. He'll remote start it once in a while in gear and the Jeep would start jumping/lurching forward like it was possessed. He loves to scare people on the sidewalks with it. He remote started the Jeep one time when we were all wasted and it started to push the car in front of it forward...that was a site.

The new systems are out, & they only start if the car is NOT in gear. These are legal, & most shops will not have a problem installing them. I was going to get it on my 5 speed Explorer when I got the CL-S done, but changed my mind. The ones that do start when the car is in gear are the illlegal ones.

DEI's website...
http://www.directed.com/

As you can see DEI make most of the "brands" out

Another good ones I heard is the Compustar. but they are expensive, & only can be installed, & bought at a dealer.

I believe Compustar has a remote starter on it also. I would go with Compustar because of the LED remote...it tells you when your car is on plus you windows is down and other neat features. Actually there are shops who probably would do the remote start on a manual if you talk with them enough...I had a Viper 550 remote start on my auto Maxima...worked fine and 2 other of my friends with a manual had it on their cars and worked fine. One of my idiot friends remote started while the car was in gear and the car hit a pole...dumbass. But here's the thing...it was supposed to be able to start up. The installer...a friend of all ours...he rigged this little piece of wood and a metal strip wraped around it and had current run through it. And around the other edges he place a metal strip too, so that if the car was in gear, the wood block with the metal strip would make contact and cause I believe a ground and thus not allow the autostart to operate. All this was hidden in the shift boot so that you couldn't see it either...really clean job. But for some reason that idiot friend of mine didn't want that and wanted to be able to remote start in gear.
