Yesterday I got off of work early to go down to Thundervalley Raceway to run my car a few times, but to my friends and my disappoinment they were shuttin down early so i it woulda been pointless to pay the 15 bucks and only do 1 run. so we watch a few races and start headin back home. im with 3 other guys goin back---a 2002 rsx type s 6 speed---an 850 Turbo Volvo thats all tricked out---and an old 4 banger accord that is gay. newayz...me and my friend with the 850 Turbo are drivin pretty fast when he gets stuck behind some traffic. well i keep goin and see this VW Golf! i pulled up next to him, looked over and took off! i didnt think that he would actually want some. then i looked into my rear view mirror and see it turn sharply into my lane behind me. i get all excited so i wait for him to come up next to me...i look over and floor it.....i havta say...those things are fast but i took him pretty good...i was pullin away from him pretty much the hole time...i hit around 130 and saw the VW slowin down. it was awsm. it made my day. oh....and by the way...the guy in the VW got pissed afterwards and cut me off and almost ran into the back of this suburban after he lost. what an asshole huh? theres a kill for our CL-S!

Now there is a retarded statement. How do you "know" the Golf isn't much match for the CL-S. And the R32 will get walked by the basic bolt on 1.8T VW's. I can promise that.

Also, the Golf and GTI are basically one in the same depending on which engine you get in the Golf. The 1.8t in a Golf is the same as a 1.8t in a GTI and is the same as the 1.8t in a Jetta.

i'm not making a call either way but did it occur to you that the guy in the other car just didn't want to follow you up to 130 when there was other traffic on the road?

 

the r32 isn't that qiuck, mid to high 6's 0-60. the problem is it's heavy, less hp then a cl-s, (240 hp) n/a it also has to all wheel drive which can do more harm then good depending on the driver. but it looks mean as hell....
i would be more worried about a modded 1.8t then the r 32....
i think it would be a driver's race w/ a cl-s, no reason why a 6spd couldn't take it out. i'm sure there are plenty of cl-s's in this forum that will prove me right.....

 

I wouldn't count on those times for the R32 because they are from European mags. If you notice Brits and Europeans seem to run quite a bit slower in mag times and on the strip mod for mod car for car.

Aside from that, VWs are notoriously faster from a roll, so 0-60 counts for nill. If a given car runs low 15s or high 14s it usually has a trap in the mid 90s. Hell, even in 95 a "lowly" 12 valve VR6 trapped 93 stock according to R&T.

 

A modded GTi tried to race me over the weekend but im not gonna burn my tires and clutch on a six cylinder that small when im a 3000lb first gen 2.3 . Anyhow, he gets to the light in front of me next to a mustang, and revs at him. The tang doesnt seem to be interested, but the vw took off anyway. so the vw is about 5 cars ahead of the tang and the tang floors it and passes the GTi in a matter of seconds. I guess thats why they say no replacement for displacement. The GTi had shut down a little too since the tang didnt launch, but I thought it was funny cuz they were driving like ass holes and got what was coming, even though i like vw better than ford.

I just don't understand why you guys think your low 15 and high 14 second cars are faster than our low 15 and high 14 second cars (I'm speaking stock). I don't ever have a problem w/ CLs and TLs that will run. Its usually a good close run either way. But my last encounter with one of your crew went something like this...

Nice white TL, getting on the highway and he punches it, so I do too to see how quick it is. I'm right there behind him not gaining or losing ground tillabout 100 then i let off. He lets off and I get next to him once we are at a more reasonable speed to tell him he has a nice car and ask if its an auto or 6 speed.

My next electronic purchase will be a camera. I'm sick of haters calling BS on me for beating cars that are "supposed to be" faster, or hanging with cars that eventually are faster.

BTW, I'm planning a move from SoFla to SoCal in a few months. We should link up...

 

When you come to SoCal, please save the speeding for the track. You'll have to come out and run my big boat of a Regal at the track. It would be fun.
