Should I...

Hey guys. Is the CompTech exhaust (mufflers only) worth it?

I have what is hopefully is a simple question regarding the CompTech exhaust. This is for the cat back only installation, just the mufflers. I am contemplating getting them and am wondering:

Do they actually make a (performance) difference? I know it must be marginal at best since it’s just mufflers and not the headers as well, but is anything noticeable? Note: my car is stock otherwise.

How do they sound compared to the stock mufflers? I’ve listened to the wave files but it’s hard to tell from that so I need your feedback. Are they louder than stock? Are they deeper sounding? Is there a noticeable difference in sound or just a minor difference?

P.S. Don’t flame me! Gotta’ start my mods somewhere.

Thanks!

waste of cash IMO

you may gain 5 HP's max if that, but it's more for sound and looks. It'll be a good amount deeper

Get the Greddy Evo. Dual Catback. They are fuckin bad ass and when combined with CT headers they are even better!

Not neccesarily. I like them. They look good and give a much deeper aggresive tone. Believe me they are plenty loud. Any louder would be too much.

They are worth it for the looks alone IMO. Then there is the sound which is also improved. I think it is one of the best upgrades you can do appreance-wise for this car. I think most people who have them would agree.

Sounds and looks great, but expensive. If you don't mind used, I think its worth it.

ehhhhh. i guess. but if you are just adding tips whats the point of making it look and sound cool. throw the greddy catback with obx or comptech headers and then add the tips. You'll be producing some serious db lvls then....

Everyone says there a waste of money. They might be if you have a stock car, but I think(someone chime in if I'm wrong) with headers, & a ton of mods, they would give you more power gains.

Stock they give you nothing you can feel, but with mods like heades and intake, exhaust will help. For less then the comptechs i was able to buy 2 stainless cans with beautiful tips and do a full cat bcak system with a 2 ft resnator. It sounds bad as hell. Its not too loud nor too low. Has abosolutely no drone and no riceyness. All i get is compliments when people hear it. If you have a type s then you wont need a full cat back. Magnaflow mufflers are 100 bucs each and having some piping and a flange put on will be like 40 bucs. So for 250ish bucs, half the price of the comps, you will great sounding exhaust with stainless mirror finish and non stock looking tips.

For the quality and appearance it brings, it's worth it in my opinion.
I have yet to see another exhaust for the CL that equals Comptech's quality.
Backpressure for our car is critical and other exhausts actually lose hp and torque because of it, so be careful.
I've seen more than one CL lose hp and torque because of exhaust selection, this includes the Greddy and Tanabe.
Comptech puts alot of research in their exhaust, so I don't see how you could go wrong.
Expensive yes, but well worth it.

Yeah, I guess I do but I have never been disappointed with anything from Comptech and I've had problems with other company's products.
Hate to see people try to save a few bucks buying something else and come up disappointed.
