Is it bad for any water to get into the intake?

Like, would the engine only have problems trying to suck on a full column of water, or would rain that got into the intake be bad enough to hurt the engine?

I wanna know if it's ok to leave the mouth of the intake in the lower grille area or stash is safely back behind the left foglight.

Thanks.

A little bit of water is good for the engine. It help prevent detonation. Back in the V8 days they used to sell water injection kits, that sprayed a fine mist of water in the intake.

Weird never heard of that.

Well, we'll see. If mine stops dead on the road (or NOVA's does since he has the mouth out in the open more), we'll know for sure.

don't get me wrong if you suck up an intake full of water it will kill your engine. Water doesn't compress very well. They mostly used those injection kits for turbo engines. I had an AEM on my ITR hybrid and when I took off the filter to clean it, you could see where a stream of water use to travel on the inside of the pipe. So I took off the whole pipe and you could see how the water made it all the up to the throttle body. That car was lowered and daily driven through rain/puddles all the time, and the engine lasted 15k miles before I sold it for the Cl. Of course I did blow up my GSR swap before the ITR. I stalled that engine in a puddle of water a month before I threw a rod. So morle of the story, little water ok lots of water very very bad.

********No Water Is Good Water.*********
Every Drop is One Drop Closer to the End of You enjoying Your CL. So why dont you play it safe and NOT leave your Intake exposed to water.

I dont know about you, but I dont even trust an $85 "bypass valve" to protect my $30,000 investment.

Hmmmm...What do you think?

One of the by-products of gasoline is Water. You can't avoid not having water in the engine.

Ever notice the little drain hole on Every muffler??

I also put water injection systems on high compression engines!

They worked quite well!

They DID NOT put so much water into an engine that it could even come close to hydro-locking.

The drain holes in your muffler are for condensation that come with hot coming in contact with cold. None of that moisture comes out of your engine at the headers.

So we're back to "dont let ANY water get into your intake if you can help it".

That's what I thought.
