I bought my '01 CL-S in January '04 when I was 18. I'm 19 now, turning 20 in August.

Nice wheels. Would you mind telling me who makes them? They look similar to the ones I want to get (Work VS-XX, 18x8). Also, what springs and shocks are you using? I'll be putting on Comptech and Koni Sports next month. Thanks.

I was 49 when I bought my first one (2001 CLS auto). I now have a 2003/6spd and will be 54 on 4/29.

I'm one of those old farts that paid $30k in 2000 for a '01 CL-S. I have 70k plus miles, and I'm on my second trans, motor/tran mounts, throttlebody, front seat covers, battery, tires, replaced three of the OEM wheels. No dents, door dings, and zip accidents. Next vehicle is a 2006 Vet.

The new vette is exactly what I want to buy as well. I'm not sure which year I'll end up with though. I still have to pay off this car. I'm thinking I'll have a vette within 3-4 years tops. z06 if I can do it!

Whew!!!!

At first I thought I was the oldest member on this forum, :shakehead but thanks to BC, Marine1, and us000011 I'm just close to being the oldest.
I turn 52 in June and I just bought my first-ever Acura two weeks ago.
Btw, it's an '01 CL-S;automatic; black with parchment interior. Got it with 60k miles on her with the original tranny; so far so good.
Man I LOVE this car!!!! I traded in a 2003 F150 regular cab flareside with STX package that I bought new 3 years ago.
Through the business I'm in I've become friends with both the Sales Manager and GM of Acura of Memphis. One day Frank (Sales manager) brought this CL-S by the store and I just fell in love with it!

Bought a 98 3.0 CL at 51, 03 CLS at 55. Was actually looking at the 06 Civic but the CLS is so much more for the same price.

Had 2 other American cars with tranny problems. My sister's 04 Pacifica is on it's 3rd tranny. Just hope my CLS holds out. It truely is a nice driving machine.

I bought mine when I was 38 in 2001. I bought it new. this is an interesting question for me because I was about to buy another civic which was stolen, but decided it's time to move away from that "boyish" style. I bought the cl because It looked like a mature, succesful mans car with muscle and class (it has a navi). most drivers I have seen in a cl after buying mine however appeared to be older than me. voted 36-45.

i got mine when i was 19, it was a rare car in my area back then... but i start seeing many cl in the past couple of month. i guess it's because it's discontinued and people can get it now for a decent price for used car.

I "aquired" mine on my b-day when I turned 22. . I think the average cl type S owner looks like :killer: and has no idea what the car is capable of.

possibly true. this does not reflect in the above poll, but then, not all CL owners are members on this forum. or on any forum for that matter.

Don't be jumping to conclusions. Most of us old folk were driving when the speed limit was 75 and everyone drove 80. And I'm not talking about Interstate Highways. To drive fast, you had to go 100. That was in the days of bias ply tires, few berms, no white lines on the outer road boundary or reflectors down the center, no HID or halogen lights. The roads, tires & suspensions are vastly superior to when I was your age. Today, fast driving is a breeze. The CLS is one nice driving machine that I don't think most of you kids appreciate. I'd race you for pink slips, but I don't want to lose my car. It's still stock. Just enjoy your car, believe me, us old folk are.

Modder 60+

Here's the deal- I turned 60 in December- bought my 2001 black CL one year ago- do I win any kind of prize (bottle of Viagra maybe?)

PS- added CAI, Bosch +4s, UR underdrive pulley, real fogs, Mobil one, Proact pads all around, new Michelins, and a lot of Zaino. Thinking maybe thermobloks soon, and an M5 lip is in the mail. You don't have to be 19 to know what the CL can do!

You should also restrict your poll...if you bought it used..the age demographics will lean towards the younger crowd. I mean its a way better car than buying a new civic....

When we did this poll a few years back....it was heavy on the 25-30 range

I am 27 and just bought my cl a few months ago (used). I think the car was targeted at people in their early 30's because it is a luxury sports coupe. For those people who aren't living check to check and weren't planning on modding it at all. It was supposed to be the "really nice car" that isn't stuffy. I bought it because I had a civic that was perfectly fine and would probably go on for another 100,000 no problem, but I wanted a "grown-up" car.

28. 2001 CL-S owner for a month. I do see a few "older" people drive this car. I even bought my CL-S from a 50+ year old couple, but it only had 26k miles!

Do I get senior discounts here?

As car guys you know it's not the years, it's the miles. Right?

Wow this thread came back from the grave.

I got mine on my 21st birthday.

I have yet to see a old nanny, old female, A female in general driving the CL.

I live in the Tri-State Area and drive in the New Jersey and New York area.

I do see a lot more CL's nowadays, but I see them a lot less then the TL's, IS's, G35's, 350z's, etc.
