Automatic CL Turbo

I just got my car back. The nitrous has been hooked up again with 100 shot (75fwhp) nozzels. The car's new tranny is holding up great and handles the shifts crisply. It has major traction issues when under spray. They dyno is reflective of this (it kept breaking loose of the machine during pulls). Driving the car is straight up scary. Full throttle at the end of a turn at a traffic light will cause the front two tires to smoke and they won't stop for about 20 yards, this was with out n2o.

nice numbers for an auto. Where did you get that new transmission built? as far as the major tire slip problems I don't know if they even have ATB (automatic-torque biasing) differentials even made for our car.

what do you mean by "slipping" off the dyno? I get the basic idea but am wondering how this doesn't mean you would shoot forward quickly. Good to see that you're up and running again. That is a sick ass set up.

I like 305wtq on the second dyno with 308whp. How much boost you're running?
BTW, why the dyno runs up to 6500rpm? And what was the torque on the first dyno?

Sorry I don't have the torque numbers for the nitrous. The top dyno has a/f ratios instead on them. It also appears that they let off the throttle on the nitrous run (top blue) at around 5750 rpm. The car is running a 8 psi spring. When it hooks up it feels incredibly fast. I will take it to the track and see what times I can get despite the wheels and stereo. That red cable is the power cord running from the trunk for the stereo. The car only took a month or so from Ram, but then I had a short, and the elctrical work is out of control under the dash. So it took a while to find and fix and then the nitrous needed to be remounted on new brackets. I have only driven this car 2 days in the last 8 months until this week. So you can see the reason for my celebration!

damn i would love to know what a setup like that costs. ive got a 01 CL-S that i was going to get a comptech supercharger for, but now that i have seen your setup i think i would rather have a turbo. im rebuilding it from a partial salvage and its going to be a real head turner when i am completely done. any tips would greatly be appreciated.

CONGRATS, with nos you have more power than ANY SCed auto or stick. scalbert got 370 with max boost and intercooler, and youve got 10 more hp than that!
i dont want to get your hopes up but with some tuning you might be able to get closer to 400.
the graph seems to fall around 6k, and the afr starts to dip into the 10's at the end. that power curve is not smooth at all imo, and you can get it to be much better with tuning. you do have the emanage correct?
i would say take it easy for a while because you are running lean around the vtec engagement point with the nos. if you spray often, tune the car for around 11.0 between 5-7k rpms and you should be fine from there on.

Thanks! I'll be taking it to the track soon and get some times after I get new tires. The P zeros smoke every time I floor it. You need to put the pedal down like 30% and ease into the throttle to get it to hook up. This is without nitrous. Honestly, I don't think I'll ever use the nitrous again expect at the track. It is really too fast without it.

What you need is 245/35/19 Toyo T1R on 19" x 8.5" 56mm offset RJSD Devotion-1pF, Style and Performance with traction to boot.

This is a 43 lb combo as opposed to the stock 215/50/17 wheel and tire combo of 48 lbs.

sorry to burst your bubble... but what you want is a smaller wheel with less weight overall.

just because your 19's are lighter overall, doesnt mean they will perform better than the stock 17's. your 19's with tires probably have more weight towards the outside of the wheel than the stock 17's with tires.

i know you are doing things for the cl that no other company has done and your putting out some great products, but im just tired of you pushing your products on people.

Yea but the smallest wheel he can use is an 18 due to the brembo calipers.

And if your sick of him pushing his product, ignore him. Its the same shit on every board where there is are official vendors.

Although if he wants to see good times, hes gonna need a set of 18s with DRs on them so he can hook-up.

But he'll probably need a set of lightweight 18s with DRs for the track, just so he can hook-up with that much power.

I'm sorry, but going from 17" diameter to 19" diameter is not enuf to make a decrease in performance while considering the weight loss is a bit more substantial than positioning of the weight. 5 lbs less on the wheel is more advantage than the disadvantage of only 1" on top and bottom of the wheel.

Besides the actual weight of the tires is more than the wheels, and most of the weight on the devotion, or any wheel for that matter is in the hub. Just for the record, the wheels weigh 19 lbs, and 245/35/19 tires weigh 24 lbs, and the tires are outboard more so. 17 to 19 inch is only one inch out on top and bottom, now if we were going 17 to 24 ", then I could agree.

Also, I can literally feel a difference by the seat of my pants. and traction was my point, 245 series against 215 series is def a great improvment, even 245 series from 235 is much needed traction in his case., and def an upgrade since our 19" wheel and tire combo is def lighter than cast Axis Muse, which probably weigh in at 50 lbs or more compared to our 43 lbs and same diamter.

dont get too much traction when get to the track aka slicks w/ hard brake tq launch because you might begin to break things at that point! tranny and engine might handle it, but you are stressing the drivetrain with strong traction. be careful! and enjoy!
