Me too...

I'm interested to know the answer as well. I read something that SAID that Honda fixed the problem, but only time will tell I suppose..... the 03s haven't been out very long at all.

Honda 'claims' that they have fixed the mechanical issue within the tranny .. and it went to production some time late spring. According to their warranty extension, "some 03's" are included which would mean that there are 03's with the known problem.

However, I am on my 2nd "fixed" transmission in my 02 (latest installed last Nov) and I can say I don't think they have found all of the problems with the drive train .. because the D5-Studder is back on this one after about 6-8 weeks of "great" operation. Perhaps there is another issue on the car that is causing the mechanical failure .. I don't know .. I only know that Acura is NOT interested in talking with anyone about the conditions in which the studder occurs .....

In fifth gear...when you arent accelerating on the highway for example, just maintaining speed...the tranny will sometimes studder slightly....you can feel it a little and see it in the RPMs a tiny bit....Its just annoying...my 02' did it all the time

Service advisor and mechanic at Seattle Acura said there were far fewer problems with 2003s -transmissions, brakes, rattles. They said a lot of the issues were addressed. Not sure what that is worth but hey they said it. My car is fine @ 7600 miles.

I have an 03 CL-S. Bought it in 5/02, DOM is 3/02. 14,000 miles thus far and no issues yet. I checked my transmission fluid this morning, good level and color was good for the mileage (not burnt).

I also got the transmission warranty extension in the mail, so I assumed I was in the "defective" lot. But since we don't have a VIN range or anything precise information, we don't seem to know at what point the 03's were built with the improved transmission.

My 03 auto seems fine but I only have 5100 mile son it (took delivery 10/02). According to my "owners link" website, I am not covered under the extended warranty so I hope that they fixed any problems!

I have a 03 TLS with 12700 miles and still going pretty strong. I have felt that shudder or hestitation every once in a while. I did get the warranty notice (I bought my car in mar 02).

I do agree with DivinDude and am a little skeptical on whether the tranny issue has indeed been addressed. a while back I had heard that the issue was with the Powertrain Control Module. Maybe there is indeed a two-fold problem here and thats why we see some many CLS/TLS on their third or fourth trannies! Then again this is only speculation.

I think it probably depends on if this so called "new tranny fix" was implemented and when. Honda's press release about the extended warranty went out to all 2001 CL-TL, 2002 CL-TL and SOME 2003 CL's (one would infer these are the auto tranny CL's).
