Okay, I'll bite.

What's the difference between what you want and the default CL jack that comes with the car?

Nicky, they're not that expensive. Sears, Lowes, Home Depot, ect. probably has an inexpensive one.

My (2 or 3) ton floor jack with 2 stands only cost $25

dude just go buy one. christ

yea... a good floor jack + stands should cost you under $50

chod: i think your kidding... but if not... a floor jack you just pump the handle a couple times to raise the car... twist to lower it.

the jack that comes with the car is a pain in the ass... and you run a pretty good risk of literally KILLING YOURSELF using it.

also with a good floor jack you can raise a whole side or the whole front or back at once... allowing you to change wheels very quickly.

anyway... nicky... go to the fuckin store and buy a jack. you know you got $50 to your name.

the stock one works well enough for the one night that you need to use it. besides....if you get a flat, im sure you're not going to have the floor jack with you.

if clearance is your issue, just drive your car onto a 2x4.

Nicky while your at it might as well get the race style jack so when you decide to lower the car anymore the jack will not run into any problems getting under it.

you think thats stupid and that is very stupid if you don't mind me saying....a friend of mine took me to go see a old tranny he wanted to buy for his XR4TI and when he got there he places the jack on sand lifts the car and stick his head right under the car....all I know is when me and the guy who was selling the tranny look back we see the jack collapsing in the sand and the car was inches away from his head so me and the guy grab him from his ankles and pull him so hard out of from under the car that he ate some sand in the process and went in his nose. I know longer talk to this idiot but that is one of the scariest things I have ever seen I literally pictured his head smashing like a watermelon under the car.

57-bucks at Sam’s Club.
It’s got a 22” lift and a 7,000-pound load rating.
And I bought a set of jack stands at the local auto shop for like 25-bucks.

I would never do ANYTHING under the car without the stands in place.

I almost bought that same one at Sams but got one the auto shop for about half. Mine has a 3000 LB rating, and only needs a little 2X4 help to lift the back

No blocks or anything under the car??? That's
At least put wood blocks, or cement blocks under there next to jack in case car comes down off jack. I always do.

I've seen PIC's of raising the front or back in the center so both wheels are off the ground. Is there a clearly marked "Center Point" to line that jack up with? Also, I trust the point is strong enough to support the weight so it doesn't bend or indent. right?

Just place the floor jack underneath the tow hooks on either the front or back and lift from there. Always go slow unless you know what you are doing just in case you put it in the wrong place.

EDIT - Make sure you read Shawn's post for the correct front lift spot below!!

NO NO NO NO NO NO !!!!! Do NOT lift from the front TOW HOOKS !!!

I don’t think those can support the weight of the heavy front end of the car.
The one in the REAR is fine and is the correct lift point for the car.

The point to use on the FRONT is an area directly on the frame of the car.
It directly in front of the engine.

I put my summer tires back on today and took some photos for you to use as a reference.

Shawn S

This is the proper way to lift the front

The rear needs almost the ENTIRE 22” range of the jack to get the tires off the ground

I just do it from the factory jack points of the car...you can still do one side at a time!

Wow thanks shawn for correcting me. It seems to be okay to life my 3.0, but I guess it's different for you. Sorry again, my fault.

You lift both the FRONT & REAR from a single side lift point ???
THAT doesn’t sound too safe balance wise, and I don’t think those areas are designed to support that much weight.

Shawn did you check with the dealer for this other point that you are lifting from? to make sure that it can handle the weight?

The two spots shown in the photos above are right out of the HELM manual.

Hey shawn, how high can you lift your car from that point and put jackstands on? I can't seem to get mine higher than stock jack height w/ my craftsmen 2.5 ton jack. For example, when I'm under the car and get near the headers section, my face is about an inch away from them. Is this normal?

Sorry, I didn’t measure the lift at the point where you would put the Jack Stands.
The one photo above showing the REAR, shows the jack at the full extension.
The one showing the FRONT it isn’t all the way up.

In either case, the stands could be easily inserted this way.

What’s the lift on the jack you have? Most are only 10 to 12 inches. The one I got is 22”.

SAM’S CLUB……57-bucks
Or, you can get a Craftsman with the same specs for like 150.

I chose SAM’S because it’s not gonna get used that hard so I’m not worried about quality issues.
