Anyone try the Mugen Tstat......

Anyone try the Mugen Tstat, in the great white north, thru the winter yet? I know the heater wont be as hot, but will it be hot enough?

If you do a search, you will find the scalbert, all motor and I thin, smitty, have all done the mugen t-stat, mugen rad cap, and mugen fan switch. If you gonna do one, do them all.

They did it cause they all have boosted their cars, scalbert and smitty with the S/C, and all motor with the turbo. If you are normally aspirated, you wont notice much difference at all. Definately NO HP gains!!

doesn't it get really cold in michigan?

i thought about this mod but sometimes i'm in below zero temperatures. would it just be a matter of letting the car warm up for an extra couple minutes, or will it noticeably affect the heating and driveability of the car?

Re: Anyone try the Mugen Tstat......

Yes it gets really cold, sub-zero at times. I know the guys that are running it, and from the search I got all the part numbers, install tips, and ordered the parts yesterday.

My question is specifically,
I know the heater wont be as hot, but will it be hot enough?
in the winter, here up north.

Has anyone gone thru a cold winter with it yet?

Almost a year ago I went through just about every Mugen T-Stat and Fan Switch from King Motorsports in order to find the ones which fit. This was well before the blower installation and I ran the entire winter with the T-stat and fan switch and being NA.

But the major difference is the climate I live. The car only saw below 30 degree a few times for only a short period. So the heating was more than adequate for me. IMO, it would be fine in the north too but would require higher fan speeds most likely.

I saw what you went thru on the old threads, and because of your efforts, I will benifit again. Thank you! I did order the fan switch and the cap also. It's really is nice this can be done without editing the ECU. Finally I will be doing the headers next weekend. I need to change out the fan shroud while the blower is out, and the coolant will need to be drained anyways, so I decided to go ahead with the stat swap at that time. The shroud that came with the blower kit wasn't cut right and the fan is not mounted correctly

You don't mean something other than the new fan switch do you? Isn't that just going to turn them on sooner, but at the same speed.

No, sorry about that, I meant the HVAC fan. You may need to run the HVAC fan faster to maintain the same cabin temperature.

Great to here that, thanks! Changing the t-stat back to stock, in sub-Zero temps, would be a pain in the frozen ass!
