anyone starting to have H.I.D. problems?

Tonight while pulling up to my driveway w/ the H.I.D.'s reflecting off the garage door, I noticed that the passenger side has a pinkish hue. I get out and stand in front to look. Yup, its pinkish compared to the driver side. Does that mean its about to burn out. I hope not.

The bulbs are rated at what, about 2500 hours? I can't imagine that it would already be on the verge of burning out.

When I first turn them on they're bluish, but once they warm up the driver side stays white and the passenger side has the pinkish hue. Wonder what's causing that?

Did you clear your headlights? If not, is your car still under warranty? If it is then I would get it checked out by the dealer. Since it is pinkish, it looks like it is burning out.

Look at the bright side, now it gives you a reason to get the 6000k.

sounds unusual... I mean it could be the electronic ballast acting up, I'd get it checked.

No my headlights aren't cleared, but I wish they were. My warranty has expired If I go to the dealer n have them look they'd probably BS me n say its normal, or tell me that I need to replace them. How much for them 6000k? Looking closer @ the housing it seems as if they've been opened up before. I see streaks on the inside of the housing not the chromed piece.

if they are pink i think they'll turn red soon. I read something from ATL.com that someone had the same case but it was red instead of pink.... they said its the sign of the HID dying....

Since you are out of warranty, how long have you had the car? You may very well have hit the life expectancy.

The 6000K bulbs are $249 shipped from jus4bulbs@yahoo.com (Phillips), $234 for Osram.

Like someone wiped the inside of the plexi glass housing (whatever material its made of) and left streaks. It's faint but it's there. Oh well, I'll just wait til the bulb burns out.

No problem. The guy is in Taiwan and accepts paypal or bidpay for instant gratification, or to save yourself a few bucks he'll take a mailed MO.

I thought HID's were supposed to out last the car? To me that means they will last 10 years or more. As for the 2500 hour statement I hope its much longer than that, because I heard that our driving lamps were rated for 1000 hours and both of mine burt out before 18 months.

Here is a link to the Philips bulb datasheet from autolamps-online.com. Minimum life is 2500 hours, typical is 3000 hours.

3000 hours is a long time. If you drive for 3000 hours @60mph, you will go 180000 miles. Given that most people are awake during the day, at least half of your driving is during the day. These bulbs have a good chance of lasting the life of the car.

Ahh... I didn't think about trying to put it in terms of Miles. 180k sounds much better than 3000 hours
