Anyone here have over 350hp?
Anyone here have over 350hp?
Crank hp that is....I figure with CAI(8-10), heads(30), exhaust(3), v-afc(7),Nos 75 shot(70), that it would be close, especially with the addition of the RES(10)and MMII(10), anyone running these kind of mods?
I just wanted to know how your car is running and if there have been any transmission problems with that much hp(not counting those of you who got unlucky and got a crappy stock trans)sorry!
my car has about 350hp to the wheels!
a friend of mine dynoed his '01 CL-S here in Miami & came up w/ 343 to the wheels.
The only difference b/w our cars is that i have an ignition & pulleys.
i currently have not had any problems w/ my tranny. although, i do feel it getting kind of jerky. i currently have 14,000 miles.
hope this helps.

That's Crazy HP!! What kind of times do you put up???
Also, would I be correct is assuming you have a CL-S ??
chu got a dyno chart to share mang?
email it to me @ astroboy@atmproductions.com so I can host it for everyone...

for those of u who claim BS, u might have overlooked the "100" shot i'm currently spraying. unfortunately i have not dynoed my car but i'll get a hold of my friend's sheet. the reason i haven't is b/c i'm going to tune my V-AFC while i'm at it. i'm also looking into a pressure regulator at the time. when all this is done, i will post.
for those who have V-AFC installed, i don't see how u could come up w/ such small gains. for example, my car is in desperate need of adjusted ratios. My car is running very rich.

The V-afc works with the current mods you have in other words no mods little gains, lots of mods more gains. I have seen results of 8 hp and 20lbs torque added. The tq was the most impressive thing.
unfortunately, i really haven't taken it to the track & i'm still on stocks for now. this is by far, the only thing holding me back.
for example, not long ago, i raced an older generation vette (probably a "96 or so) w/ head work, intake/exhaust. he jumped me off the line (man trans) & barely chirped (good tires). but when i finally gripped & sprayed i was at his door the whole time to about 90.

you will not be able to lean out the car that much using the V-AFC...
and I am not sure why your car would be running rich...my car when dynoed with a lamda meter only needed a little bit of leaning out up top...
and even with that, i only gained about 3HP and 2 Ft Lbs...

The mods listed do not amount to this amount of power increase. I would beleive it if you stated that you had 343 crank HP but you mentioned to the wheels.
I'm not stating you are BS'ing, it is just that the numbers do not add up...
One other question, what car is this on? You mention you have a HKS Twin Power DLI Ignition which wouldn't work on a current CL as we have coil-on-plugs...
I have 355hp at the crank & my car was dynoed by Syncivic at 282hp to the wheels. I'm spraying 55 shot on a Zex setup. I would not tke the chance with a 100 shot b/c I don't think the tranny will hold up. Just my opinion.

From what i hear, the vtec controler does shit for our cars.

well yea that makes sense, since without the 55 shot, you are around 227 HP without the zex, which is right.
350hp-
you're right i can't prove it (yet). & btw i'm not even trying to prove i have the fastest car on these boards. that's not important to me. i'm sure someone else out there has a much faster CL-S than I do. i just simply responded to a post someone started. 350hp may not be completely accurate. but how could one say that 343 sounds more logical @ the crank w/ my mods. w/ the 100-shot & a stock engine i'll break that @ the crank.
tires-
there are still plenty of cl-s out there w/ intake/headers/exhaust riding on stock tires. my car's output is not much different than a lot of other members' cars other than the 100-shot & since i dont' go spraying & purging around every corner of Miami, I really don't need tires until i hit the track. our track had been closed for quite a while & just reopened anyways. i plan on getting my v-afc tuned next week. in prep, i'm getting new o2 sensors & spark plugs before tuning. i'm also getting the hi-flow cat completely removed for good. i will post before & after tuning v-afc. i will also post w/ & w/out spraying. any other suggestions are welcome.
scalbert-
the twin power DLI ignition has been on my '01CL-S for a several months now and has made a very significant improvement. it is a distributorless ignition that can power up to six plugs (just like our cars). u should've known these are the ignitions of choice for NSX's (which have the same type of ignition as our car) b/c of their size.
hope this settles everything...

But in my experience an iginition system upgrade is not needed when there are individual coils per plugs. Our system runs hot enough for the vast majority of people. The use of nitrous may push the limits and the DLI might be a decent addition but I highly doubt that it provides anything under normal conditions unless the stock system is not operating correctly. Which if that is the case it is an expensive band-aid.
As for the NSX, every post I have read dealing with an iginition upgraded followed my line of reasoning, it is not needed unless something serious is done to increase the cylinder pressure
Anyway, I'll look forward to seeing the dyno pulls. I'd really be interested in seeing pulls without the juice but with the DLI on and off.

i don't have the time nor the patience to listen to idiots calling me a liar. nor do i have the time to post lies to get off on what people have to say about them. i have had my ignition installed for several months already so believe me it works. i'll post pics.
msd x 6? what the hell are u trying to say? that you'd need to buy 6 msd ignitions to power the plugs in our cars? if u wanted an msd setup, you would simply have to get an msd dis-2 (which powers up to 2 plugs) and a dis-4 (which powers up to 4 plugs). this setup is a lot more money & takes up a lot more space. so u see, there are still other ignition options besides mine (which everyone seems to think is impossible).

No offense but I do know a hell of alot more about the type-s than you, since I swapped one into my 1st gen.
P.S I called HKS direct and they confirmed they don't have a twin power dli ignition available for the type-s.

I still don't get why so many people on this board are always looking to prove that someone does't have what they say they have.
That is a big reason why I don't post alot on this board. Whats with all the jelousy?
Lets just take things at face value. If he says he has is then he does.
I live in South Florida and would come down for a meet. I have a pretty radical car as well. All the comptech goodies plus NO2.
PM me if you guys want to plan something. I love Moroso. Perhaps on a test and tune night. Then we could show this board some real numbers!
