Anyone have experience w/Tornado fuel saver?

I saw this in Sport Compact Car magazine, and then I saw it on TV. It basically is inserted into your intake tube and it has fins that force the air to rotate into a "tornado type" funnel, supposedly increasing HP and efficiency.
In the infomercial (no, I don't beleive everything I hear) they dynoed a car and it gained 10 HP, I don't know what type of car but I did notice that it already had a K&N short ram on it.

Anyone ever heard or know of experiences with this product?

Would air intake be improved by creating a funneling/rotating effect with the intake air?

It's snake oil. It's just plain junk.

Now it's a fuel saver. Before it was a supercharger to get 15% more hp from it.

Don't waste your money.

One of the guys at the recent SoCal meet had one of those. He said it gave better gas mileage. He had the stock intake other than the "Tornado". The idea of this widget makes sense IMO.

trust me I've had this device(cheapo thin blades of metal), and it doesn't do jacksh*t!!

How would swirling air help the intake manifold?? I'm so ashamed I even bought this.. don't make the same mistake.

These devices may help a bit on older carbuerated engines and engines w/o traction/VSA or Variable length induction. The normalization of airflow is a positive acheivement, however when you introduce VSA with butterfly valves, throttle bodies w/more butterfly valves, unpolished intake tracts, and variable length induction the "swirling" doesnt do a whole lot aside from reduce the turbulence a hair initially.

Thanks for the input. I thought there may be a small chance they were telling the truth but then again it costs $69 and is sold using infomercials. To do that you have to have a product with high markup to pay for all the airtime.

Peace,
N

Nomad,

I was given one of these products and dynoed it at a nearby dyno shop which did it for me free. The results were that I gained 4 horsepower on the mid to high rpm's. As for gas mileage, I gained about 15 - 20 miles mores per a tank. My car was used as a test car so no charges were incurred at all. Sorry I can't post dyno sheet because I threw it away not knowing this forum existed or else I would have saved it for the forum. On the same day a Honda civic installed the Tornado and gained 14
horsepower, which was hard to believe until I looked at the computer screen. The Web Site is www.tornadofuelsaver.com.

Xephyr, what if this tornado thing was used in tandem with your intake? Worth a dyno?

Well when you guys get the final verdict on these things, make sure you e-mail me. I've been getting shit mileage. 230 miles is the max I can get per tank!
