I just saw a new commercial for Solara (guy crashing into every car on road except a red Solara)......... the front looks almost identical to our's. In fact, it's looks better than CL-S. Any pic's or opinions?

If I thought it looked better, I woulda gotten the Solara.

 

I hate Toyotas. I think the Solara's front end sucks, it looks like a blantant ripoff of Acura's "pentagon" shaped grill.

 

Our Xenon lights are much better!
But look at the front grill, and the sharp pointy bumper........ somebody is trying to copy Acura!

I/we are talking about the new "face-lifted" Solara front end vs CL's.

 

Even the currenrt non-face lifted model looks like that. I mistake the current model for a CL every firggin day.

Where in this thread are you talking about the OLD Grill? Are you using the moniker CL-S to designate the old CL?

 

I'm sure there are lots of grills in the world which have similarities with different manufacturers. I think you just need to get over the fact that someone 'copied' your CL grill.

BTW, I like the grill on the CLS and Solora. It looks good on both cars.

 

I like the bland/copied style on the CLS... that's why I bought the thing.. heheh!!

I like it...looks alright...the triangular bumper reminds me of an acura though!

 

I had a solara traded in july 2000 for my type S the only thing good about was the ride and quiet had trouble body roll and very slow et. 15.77@87.00mph

 

I had an 87 T-bird that had a similar grill. I wonder if Acura and Toyota ripped off Fords design?

 

I've heard some people say that the current CLs copied the Solara's design. However, I would have to say that the Solara is derivative of the 1st generation CL, which was introduced first. The current CL is just an evolution of the original and hence looks similar to the Solara.

This freshened up Solara does look very similar to the current CL. I think the front end is pretty attractive, and they get real fog lamps! I saw a blue Solara yesterday with 18" rims and I have to say it looked good.

Actually, I take that back... I think the rear tailights look too Corolla-esque, but the lip spoiler doesn't look too bad.

 

I know a guy who has a black Solara (5spd) all hooked up with TRD shit....every mod, he's like $36k deep into a Solara- I call him and his car "The fast and the idiot."

 

The Solara is nice but the CL is classier!

I traded in a Solara for my CL-S. The Acura is much better!!! You don't have automatic up and back in those seats and the CL-S has a better ride and more horsepower.

 

Those headlights (the part near the grille)look like the 02 TL.

 

a tricked out stage 3 TRD solara 5 spd can give the cl-s a run for the money...and costs about the same after it's optioned out...

btw, i heard there use to be a solara guy out here in the bay area that use to run. his plates said "IH8VTEC" or something like that...

 

Unless you TuRD it out... handling on Toyotas ... are just... too soft.

You get huge amounts of body roll... every Toyota I have ever driven has this problem... its just the way they set the car up.... its more for soft ride...

i have an avalon.... feels about the same as solora...cuz my friend has a solora too and i drove it before... FEEL EXACTLY the same.....THe suspension is nothing like CLS... IT S NOT STIFF at all..

who said all toyota r too soft??? how about IS300 AKA Altezza.? supra???

i would love the solora. BUT the butt is too high like accord coupe.

I love the 2003 solora looks tho... BUt 2002 camry front looks just like the new Civic..... LOOK AT IT!!!

i was thinking about the solara. i went to go test drive one but it's hard to find a v6 stick shift. the guy said i'd have to flat out buy it. i want to test drive it before i buy anything. not only that, the interior looked really cheap. i do like the styling though. at least the 01.

I used to consider Solara too, and i got CL is NOT because they are ugly, but CL was cheaper, and i dun HATE any cars.... It's equal market, they have their lovers.... Are you sure the pic is of a '03 Solara? Was thinking about trading mine in for a six speed, not so sure now. love the overall lower cab height and sleek look of this one, but might not be up on par as far as performance is concerned.

 

hey everybody is copying Acura's grille. the mazda's millenia grille looks so much like the TL now

 

ONE: A lot of you guys are way insecure about your cars.
TWO: Is it just me or is Toyota/Lexus the only company that seems to put any time into the design of the taillights (i.e. new solara, IS 300, RX 300). OK except Ford's desperate but good looking attempt in the lightning.
Our reverse lights are friggin' pink for Christ's sake

Have you noticed that the redesigned Mazda Millenia looks amazingly similar to the CL from the front?

 

I saw a TRD edition Solara... supercharger...TRD bodykit....17" wheels..etc.... It looked nice!
