Anybody's tranny 'quiver'?
I've been noticing lately that when I'm not accelerating hard, that is, taking it easy like a grandma, the car tends to vibrate around 2000 rpm.
Anybody know what's up with that?

Is THAT normal? Mine's done it for a couple months at least, if not since I got it. Don't remember.

trying to get a lil V-I
Yeah, I get a weird "stutter" like effect when the car is cold and shifting from 1-2 and sometimes btw 2-3.
At first I thought it was only because it has been cold as hell here, plus winter grade gasoline, but after reading this post, I'm a little worried.
I have 4,300 miles on the car but I've been active using the SS and hitting VTEC on a regular basis. hmmm...I hope it's nothing to worry about.

I seem to notice it when I am going easy on the car, and especially if I am going up some kind of grade.
I have experienced it in every gear.
But if I get on it, I don't have any symptoms.
So, I guess I gotta quit driving like a wussy.

I just got back yesterday from LA. Now I have over 46,000 miles. Mine has vibrated SINCE DAY ONE, till she warms up. I am convienced, its the tranny warming up. So I just keep it cool till the temp. guage is moved up a bit and the vibration goes away........This has done it since DAY ONE !

I had that problem....I already had one new tranny in there with only about 5K on it...then one day I started to notice that it would like vibrate (like I was going over some small bumbs in the road)when it shifted from 1-2. At about 2500- 3000 RPM was the worst...if it was up like at red line or in VTEC range it wouldnt do it. I went to the dealer and they first told me a motor munt was broke and that is why...then the next day when I called to see when I could pick it back up...they told me they were waiting on ANOTHER tranny. So I dont know but I think yall need to take it back in to have it fixed...it should shift smooth after the car is warmed up.

Mine did it well after it was warmed up...its felt like 4-5 quick shout bucks...like there was little bumps in the road...all in a row. Its hard to explain. Now this was only when it went from 1-2 at low RPM's. The first tranny had its problem in the 2-3 shift...it would just slip with no bucking or vibrating.

I'm more of a lurker here than a poster- but this problem has also cropped up in my car a couple of months ago (about 15,000 into) It seems after the car is warm- If I let off the gas and pull up to a red light, the engine would vibrate and I notice the tach needle going from around 1,000 down to 750 rpm's while it's vibrating.. it does this sequentially 1-3 times in as many seconds... I HOPE my tranny isn't going bye bye..

I would like to first say hi to everyone. I'm a newbie.
I would also like to say that i have experienced "THE QUIVER"
If I pull up to a light in the manual mode, she dropps below a grand and starts to shake. It seems to oscillate in this sort of fasion.
THIS ONLY HAPPENED IN MANUAL
WHAT IS THIS?

I think there is some misunderstanding. The first post was for a quiver when the car shifts from 1st to 2nd. The quivering you are experecing is when you come to a stop at a light and the RPM's drop below 750 and it feel like the car is shuddering and about to stall.

Mine started to do the same exact thing a couple months ago. Shudder from 1-2. Bumper to bumper traffic really accentuates it. I took it to my dealer and they told me the shudder was likely do to some sort of traction deally related to the pavement. Sounded like crap to me. So now it's even more noticeable. Feels like the 1-2 shift isn't as crisp.

NOLACLS- I also wondered if the stall shudders were because of the air compressor kickin in.. Every time I notice the "stall shakes" I try to quickly turn of the auto-air- to see if it would stop the shakes- so far, I haven't been quick enough.. hehehe- one of these days..

Great now we've got two different issues in this thread because a couple of you don't know about the Fuel Pressure Regulator issue that can cause your car to dip rpms and shudder like it's going to stall in cold weather and/or with winter gasoline. It happens in automatic mode and without the A/C compressor on too, btw. Because I never use sportshift and havent been using the A/C compressor and it still does it.
Anyway, that's COMPLETELY different from the transmission issue we WERE discussing which is exactly what NOLA said:
NOLA again:
And as NNH said:
Now let's keep the discussion on THIS issue, since that is what we're talking about. Thanks.![Smile](https://acurazine.com/forums/images/smilies/smile.gif)
And it seems like a lot of people's trannies do this so hopefully it's just normal.

The day I called my dealer about the tranny, I was pulling out from a stop sign (going about 30) and the tranny hesitated bewtween 2 and 3 and when 3 engaged, it pushed me back into the seat.
I had also noticed 2x that when I would accelerate hard, to pass someone, that the car would pull toward the passenger's side...I was passing on a 2 lane road one of these times and had to fight to keep the car straight...just accelerating from 35 to 70.
After the tranny was replaced, I had none of these phenomenon.
Definitely take the car in and have it looked at. The tech that looked at my tranny said that the fluid was burned and that gears 2 &3 were bad. Apparently, Acura wants the dealers to just replace the whole tranny rather than fix gears, because of the complexity.
Anyhow, get it looked at!
