any tire recommendation for 01 cls

I want to replace my tires. 2 are really worn the other 2 are ok. I am considering replacing all 4 .

Does anyone recommend a specific type of tire?

Tirerack.com recommends either the:

Dunlop SP Sport 5000 Symmetrical

or stock Michelin Pilot HX MXM4

Has anyone tried the Dunlop SP Sport 5000? How do they compare to the stock tires?

Any advice would be appreciated!

Judging from your location, I would consider a 3-season tire. IMO, if you're looking for an excellent wet/dry tire with good tread ratings, proper load rating, and great looking tread design, then you should seriously consider the Toyos T1-S.

I would say run some Pirelli p7000s...they are great tires in the wet and awesome tires in the rain...treadwear is pretty good too!

I agree. Just put a set on my '01 CLS. They are great tires. Not noisy, good ride, and stick like glue. You won't regret the T1-S tires. Mine were $772, out the door as they say.

My Michelin's are at 31,000 miles and are like brand-freakin' new. The damned things won't wear out! It's no wonder they squeal a lot - they must be super hard.

I want the Toyo's but I'm trying to wear out the Michy's first! Anyone else still going strong on the stockers?

My stock tires had 43,000 on them when I finally decided on the Toyos. They could have gone another 3,000 to 5,000 but I was done with them.

man if i had a nickle for every tire thread on this board

Michelin Pilot Sports are a great alternative to the Toyo's...Toyo's IMO are a bit too loud and intrusive

Re: any tire recommendation for 01 cls

2 worn, 2 ok? Seems like someone is not rotating their tires. Rotating them will extend their life by like 50%.

never too late

it's like stopping smoking after 50 years. it's not gonna help that much but it's always never too late to help out. rotate the good tires to the front and run them there until the front ones look just like the rear ones. then switch again.
