An Answer for ACURA

The following is a quote from an ACURA advertisement in last weeks S.I. If you haven’t seen it picture the CLS winding through a twisty road somewhere in Az. At the bottom of a 2 page picture the ad. says:

“Whose bright idea was this? Right when the race bred V-6 VTEC engine is hitting its stride, the 4-wheel double wishbone suspension is carving every corner and the ACURA/BOSE music system with its 6 disc CD changer is joyfully blasting away, it suddenly appears out of no where. A red octagonal piece of metal stubbornly ordering you to hit the brakes. Really, is there any justice in this crazy world?"

To answer your question ACURA, NO! There is no justice to have the CLS capable in every other way except for the sorry ass brakes!!!

Almost 4K miles, & my brakes are great! Lot's of feel, no dust, no warpage, & it does stop very well.

And, this is on a CLS?

I had mine replaced at about 24000miles and the feel has always been spongy. Too bad the Brembos are SOOOOO expensive and require new wheels.

Give it time. I could say the same thing at 4k. Well . . ... not the "no dust" part. Unless they've changed the rotors at the factory you'll have the same rotor warpage problem as every one else. The dealer trued my rotors (no change) at 20k miles. Here I am at 30k miles and they need to be trued again. The ad. I mentioned above speakes volumes to long term CLS owners!

I have 16k, and my rotors warped about 2k ago. I'll take it in sometime in the future.

On a related note, have some of you noticed that your car's brakes stops better than other times? I can't find any patterns (outside temp, frequency of braking, etc), but it seems that sometimes the brake "feels" really solid and tight, and other times, it feels a bit spongy.

Fellas, just had mine resurfaced for the second time yesterday! This time they said they would give me new ones. After they finished I looked at the paper work and it showed that they were not new at all but resurfaced. I asked them about this and they said dont worry about it. Like this is even a fuking answer to " where the hell are my new rotors ". " excuse me sir where is your head ? "........" yes "------has nothing to do with the question!!!!
ok i am pissed sorry guys, going back over to www.ar15.com

They fade quite easily when they heat up. I got new pads on mine the other day - did it myself - and I was testing them near my house. I got them so hot that spit sizzles on the rotors!

There is a service bulletin out regarding Brake Pedal Pulse for our CLs. Might want to ask the dealer about it. The service bulletin number is 01-017. Good Luck

All of you with bad brakes.....

You guys need to upgrade the brakes pads. I didn't check the service bulletin but, if you are going to get your cls serviced....get the upgraded brakes = FREE! Covered under Warranty! ACURA HAS NO SAY ABOUT THAT. REQUEST the new brakes. I feel a big difference and I only had them for 30 miles

I wonder if new pads with the drilled rotors from ACP would be a good idea at this point. If nothing else, the reduced heat should be a plus.

I'm pretty sure this only applies for cars with certain production dates or VIN's. Kind of like the problem with the tubing for some windshield washer systems.
