Another purge Control Soleniod ?

Will the purge control solenoid throw a check engine light if its bad? I bought a new one a few months back because of the ticking issue and now its ticking again and the guy at the parts dept is giving me a hard time about it and saying they probably wont warranty it because it didnt throw a check engine code, because he says they throw a code if bad. I tried to explain to him that many people have had their PCS replaced due to ticking but he just kinda shrugged it off. So i guess well see what they say tomorrow when the part comes in. He wants service to look at my car to warranty it, but theres no way im paying someone 110 an hour to check out a part that i know is bad specially when i can just buy the part for under 50 bux and not pay there stupid labor rate for BS. WHy would i pay someone 110 to look at a part i know i could replace for under 50? The other guy in the parts deptartment is way cool and always helps me out, but this guy is just a total ass and doesnt give a shit about customer service i guess.

My valve is clicking too. I think that is its normal operation, actually...
I don't know if a faulty one would throw a CEL or not, but since you did say you already chagned yours once, did you go back and make sure the vacuum lines are attached securely to it still? That may indeed throw a CEL. Check that out before going for whatever they want to charge you money for.

I don't think anyone has reported a CEL with a ticking purge solenoid valve. There have been reports of decreased MPG, but mine is ticking, and I haven't noticed a significant drop in mpg (I've kept a log of every tankful for 70K miles).

Yep, I guess it's normal for stuff to tick like a mini diesel engine

I don't hear my injectors, but damn the purge valve makes a racket... especially when I'm in the drive thru with my window open.

I guess you can rack this up as one of those "If I had to explain it to you, you never would really understand anyways" things...

Mine has ticked for over 200,000 miles now. Its at its worst when its cold. Ive never seen a reduction in mileage. (i get well over 400 miles to a tank) Nor have i ever seen it throw a code on mine or any one on the TL side

It does throw a CEL if it's bad. However the ticking doesn't mean it's really bad, it's just noisy.
If you bought the part from a dealer. The part comes with a warranty. You should be able to get a replacement. The service dept. does not have any say in this. If you paid for a Acura part & think it's defective & your within the parts warranty for it you have every right to replace it.
You don't even need that dealer. As long as you have a receipt go to any Acura parts counter with the part & get it replaced.

However,

If the dealer replaced it under warranty & you didn't pay for it, then yes it has to be failing & prove it to get it replaced again under warranty.
