Ok so I have a couple of questions

first what amperage is a stock alternator for a 2001 acura CL type S

second will a non type alternator fit on my type(im pretty sure it will)

third does the non type s have a higher out put alternator on it

last does anyone know what am OEM alternator goes for

I think its 105 amps for the type s

yes the non type s will fit

the type p is 120 amps (again I think)

It depends on who you go to but I think around $300 with core charge

you have it reversed.

"Alternator: 3.2CL - 105 amp. max
Type S - 120 amp. max"

Got that straight from myacura.com

I just put in 2001 Acura CL on the site.

The CL-S auto alternator is 31100-PGE-A51 while the CL-P alternator is 31100-PGE-A11. So they are two different alternators on the auto CL and CL-S

well the CL-P# and the CL-S# doesnt match but thats because they are different amperage's I think that's why they don't match but it should fit im ordering it on Tuesday and Installing it later next so ill tell you if it fits

If it says it fits either of the CL-P or CL-S part number alternators then it should fit because those alternators are interchangable

Its weird when you goo online sometimes it says it fits CL-P, CL-S and Odyssey and then some times it says it only fits CL-P and CL-S so I hope there not two different alternators for that year of oddyssey !!!

All the J series alts are pretty much interchangeable but the one you DON'T want is the delphi one as that is a GIANT POS. The only problems you might have are wiring it up but I believe all the denso units have the same plug. There are a lot of people that use the TL/CLS alts in the 6th gen accord after making the harness 4" longer to reach the plug.

I got the underdrive pulley on right now and am sitting at 12 when im stopped as soon as it goes under 12 im getting a new one, and all this and the system is out of my car for the winter so in the spring im getting a new one for sure

Im not sure what to do because I was talking to a guy and he said that when you get a high output alt, like 140amps you lose the power at idle which would b the biggest problem

IS That True ??

I've never heard that but that don't mean it ain't true. And 140 is not HO in my book. I'm sure it's been mentioned but don't forget the Big 3 with 0 gauge.

ok if u run the Underdrive pulley you'll need an overdrive pulley set for ur alternator like these...

http://cgi.ebay.ca/OBX-Overdrive-Pow...item5639bb9893

they are in the mail for me, when i get them i'll let u know if they are OEM size or if they are TRUE overdrive, then they're be smaller in diameter. I'll keep you posted

I wanna get the BAY done before the first meet i hit up this year. And i'm just ahead of schedule right now. ;-)

my cluster dims like crazy and this 6 speed alt is POS my car dies just rolling the window up and down like 5-7 times, while sitting in the car with the key out you can see the window roll up slower and slower, then i need a jump. btw im running a 10" solo x, with a hifonics brutus 2600, and kappas all around with a 2 farad capacitor.

If it's dying while rolling the windows up/down and the car is off I would blame the battery not the alt.

Also, you ever consider getting a second battery in lieu of the cap? If your lights are dimming still that cap isn't doing its job.

i have an interstate battery. and it worked fine i know for sure its the alt. As i pound my system the alt doesnt put out enough amps to recharge my battery that is why the battery dies. Imagine if im pulling all that juice of course the ALT has to recharge the battery. Basically ill pound the system turn off the car and alt doesnt have enough power to recharge the battery. I check the acid level on my battery its still up there. Even if i run a second battery what will recharge the second battery the 6 speed alt wont even be able to pull 2 batteries.

Two batteries are only good if you want to run your system with your car off plus to set that up it exspensive , Im going to wait for CLS to try out that overdrive pulley, and then get a better ALT (like oddys one)

I not sure if this would wreck your alt but you should look at getting an overdrive pulley for yours aven with out the underdrive crank pulley !

i am not even running an aftermarket sound system I'm doing it cause SOMETIMES, only SOMETIMES, the lights will ever so slightly dim and that's due to the alt not spinning enough thanks to my UD pulley.

So i'm getting the OBX ones cause 1st the looks COOOL, second this SHOULD fix my lil issue.

and 3rd.. i'll keep this thread updated... should be on by the end of NEXT weekend..

i'm going to Sudbury for 3 or 4 days starting tomorrow, so no time for my car :-(

You have twice the amps which means you can satisfy your sound equipment without robbing your other accessories such as interior lights, headlights, hvac fans, etc. So it's good for listenig while the car is on as well.

Btw, having battery acid in your battery doesn't mean it's not shot. Have you had it tested at your local autoparts store? I'm still not convinced it's your alt
