Why do you go and write that ? Why are you mad that a header came out just as good as comptect? If you are so cheap, go and buy obx! I think you should not be bad mouthing alphawerks because they higher there prices. And how do you know if they didnt do there own r&d!
And what makes you think that the headers cost so cheap?
Have you ever thought how much money comptech is making off of each header?
I know it has to cost money to dyno products.

Unless something recent has come out... maybe the certification would justify the price increase.
Oh and the AW headers are a direct Comptech copy just like OBX and Stone. They did not do their own R&D like someone suggested.

no it is just certified to pass emmisions and it has the marking on it. Other headers will pass just the same. Basically all you need is your O2 sensor to be working properly to pass - for the most part.
So any header with the O2 sensor "hole" will do the job fine. Its just that some strict states...Cali, Tx... will give you crap if they dont see the "carb certified". Just tell them to hook up your car anyway and it will be fine.
I had to do this with my old Chevy truck, I had headers, new intake manifold and air intake. I still passed Tx emmisions.

And you won't pass without having CARB certified parts in Cali. I've read of people haveing certified parts and being hassled.
Cali = douche bag state when it comes to teh modifing.

JaredGMD has the full right to be posting this thread. He's not complaining about something taht's not logical (like yourself), he's just spreading the fact that AW headers went up 500 bucks. Which is a pretty big jump IMO . I'm happy I jumped on them when they first came out and were running for 300. So far they show worthy increases and I'm having a dyno tomorrow and a new y-pipe next week.

Wrong, sorry. During an emissions inspection in California they perform a visual inspection under the hood. If they notice an intake, headers, etc. without a C.A.R.B sticker or badge you will fail the inspection regardless of what your emissions readings were. If you fail hte visual inspection they might not even run the exhaust emissions test. C.A.R.B. certification is very important for modifications to have if they are marketed in California

You're telling me that they did their own R&D to make a header set and it turns out to look EXACTLY like CT's? You're as bright as a wet fart.
They headers cannot cost more than ~$100-$120 dollars for them to make, and chargind $750 is like credit card companies charging 25% interest......not criminal, but prolly should be.

OK OK OK, all I was saying is the CARB certification doesnt have anything to do with the physical workings of the part - you will pass the smog test - as long as you can get hooked up. I know California is crazy strict.

Who cares what they charge? If the product is worth $750 then customers will buy it. If not, then they'll have to lower the price to move their inventory. That's pretty simple business logic.
