Air Vents? do they come out?

How would I take the air vents out of the front dash? Can It happen? Do I need a tool? Do I need to take off the dash?

Thanks

The plot thickens... I was watching a cop show yesterday and the most common place to hide drugs is behind the vents...

I thought thats what our little red "THIS IS NOT AN ASHTRAY" thing was for.

seriously - maybe he got something stuck back in there (kids shoving things?)

for instance, i think i lost some quarters down the back of the "not an ashtray" thing...

Wrap a flat-tip screwdriver with protective tape, and apply protective tape around the related parts to prevent damage. carefully insert the flat-tip screwdriver next to the clip (left and right side/low of the vent), and detach the clips by prying on the vent (bottom/middle). Remove the vent by releasing the hooks (top/left and right).

actually...

I'm 17, no kids. Just thought it might look kinda cool to run some streetwires 3" mini neons in there, and velcro them to the inside of the duct for a nice glow.
