I gott' tell you all a funny story related to this.

When I found this website, I was suffering from the dreaded, " Coin Disease" also. I had just discovered how to remove the plastic cover below the coin tray, but I still couldn't get all the coins out and the tray wouldn't close.

I spent two days reading almost every post on this site and the FAQ on Chod's site, where I read this:
"Another way to get coins out from behind the holder is to whack it REAL hard from the driver's side. It can take it - it's pretty tough. "

I'll be damned, but it worked. After about a week of digging around with tweezers, pens and a knife, the imfamous "whack" fixed it. I have no friggin' idea where the coins went, but I can close the tray now.

I also keep the change in the cup holder now.

hahah Shutup hahah, I'm talking about pennies, like at IN-N-out what I get is $4.17 so I go in with a quarter and get back $.08 I always throw that out of leave it on the counter, I don't think throwing out of leaving behind $.05-$.10 a day is gonna affect anyone. Nah most of the change stays in my pocket till I get home I got a big Coke bottle it goes in,

When you gonna e-mail me that list man, I wanna get moving on this.

Umm also it's my money, focker

Most the college students I know aren't cut off from Mommy and Daddy and even if I were cut off from them, i'm still working 40+ hours a week

Actually, what I do is put change in that little indention just above the stickshift. I STILL don't know what that is but it holds quite a few coins, though.

But collecting tokens at the local on-ramp doesn't count...

What I have found is don't let it get over 1/3 filled with coins. Otherwise a good 'whack' (on the dash side) or a long flat head will be needed.

Coin Tray Cure

Hey, I've found the only way to keep that thing as a coin holder is to take one of those plastic tube canister things that you get your film in (I know I'm gonna get railed for not knowing the name of it but whatever), put your coins in there and stick that thing inside the coin tray. It's a little bit of a tight fit but it sure as hell beats having to put up with the sound of change bouncing around in your car.

Acutally as a scientific fact researched from the coinholder/fuzzy ashtray Instiute for Motor Vehicles. You should have exactly....and they do mean exactly.

6 quarters
7 dimes
4 nickeles
4 pennies

no more! any more will result in improper distibution of the coin to linear space ratio inside the tray and cause a malfuntion of the closing mechanism. Plus it is a proven fact that having the exact change will automatically give you a 37 hp boosts and make you 18% more attractive to the opposite sex.
