Air in the Brake lines

Was wondering if air in the brake lines would cause the VSA light to stay on? Dont say tranny b/c I already know. I changed out the brakes yesterday and teh pedal is still pretty spongy. Does this mean that there's air in the lines???
Thanks,
Baum

Did you change the caliper? Did you try and bleed them for any reason? If you did not it is not air in the barkes. Unless you opened the lines for any reason.

Spongy pedal would be caused by Air in the sytem or contaminated fluid.

So I should bleed the brakes right? But like you said before I didnt try to bleed them or change a caliper...just the pads. What would cause air to get into the lines other than the prior mentioned? Thanks for your help man.

Wht did you use to push the piston back in? Did you damage the rubber on it if so then you might have contamination in the system. Is there a slow creep or just spongy?

we used the old brake pad w/ a C-clamp. What do you mean by a slow creep? When I first got the car I could barely touch the pedal and I'd feel it slow down, now I'm going in about half way on the pedal to feel the slightest. I know I can stop I just dont like the feeling of pretty much pushing it through the damned floor to know I'm stopping.

Then bleed them & see if it helps. I don't see how air could have gotten into the lines, but that's all you can do at this point.

Weird... you shouldn't have a spongy pedal from replacing just the pads...

trying to do what I can so I can eliminate options on what it could be. If any of you read my last post about how the throttle got stuck in WOT and when I was slamming the brakes to stop it, I lost pedal pressure and now I'm trying to get it back. Thats what I think is making the VSA light stay on, not my tranny b/c it works fine.

with time, brake fluid absorbs humidity, lowering the boiling point.
that is the main reason why brake fluid should be replaced every 2 years
