AEM CAI, soon to have COMPTECH HEADERS... but do I need.....?

Ok guys, get you minds working for me....

the CAI gives a few horses...
the Headers one purchesed/installed on car will give me anywhere from 30-60 horses...
an exhaust will give me 1 or 2 horses...

I'm figuring together the CAI and Headers will give me roughly a 50 marke in HP... would the exhaust(axle back) do anything?
Do you guys think the exhaust is worth it...?

Not to burst your bubble but the headers and CAI will not give you 50 hp on the 3.0 CL.. it will not even give that much on the 3.2Cl-S.. I think COmptech's dyno gave the 3.0 V6 Accord 17 extra hp.. and the CAI might add anywhere in the neighborhood of 6-10 hp.. were you referring to the COmptech exhuast.. to each his own.. no juice (hp) from it but if you don't like the way your car sounds or stock exhuasts look then go for the COmptech exhuast.. max hp for exhaust is prob 4-5hp.. though more likely as many others have noted.. maybe only 2 hp.. hope this helps!

If you lucky you may get about 300 - 305 HP at the crank with the AEM CAI and headers. This is based on the best dynos ever shown here and figuring a 20% loss from crank to front wheels.

You will only get a "real kick" from the headers from 5000- to 7000-rpm.

The exhaust gives you 2HP -- if your going to race for pink slips (or something similar) every HP counts, but that is a lot of $$$ for the HP.

The CL Type-S already has a good exhaust; it is just the stock exhaust manifold that stinks (there are some nasty right turns and other problems that mess with good air flow).

well, from what i undertand the comptech headers are producing about 60 for type-s acuras and about 30 for us 1st gens.... I guess ill only be able to tell a difference once i get it...

but overall, getting an exhaust to go with it is pretty pointless.. if i understand correctly...

Hmmm... I don't think so...

You will see some folks here who have "handles" of 290HP -- these people have the Comptech headers. The 260 at the crank becomes 290HP.

If you go by the better dynos or the AEM "average" gain graph, if makes 6-10HP (perhaps more with some very cold air vs. a hot engine compartment)

So, if I add 10-15HP to the 290 (crank) HP, we are talking about 40-45 MORE HP for a CLS/TLS (for headers AND intake at the crank)...

I seriously do NOT thing header will produce 60hp for TypeS, according to wat i see, its more like 28hps increased in TypeS.... so if according to your rice math, on a 3.0CL, its more like 14-16hpd gain.... Seems like if you expecting that much, you will feel really shitty after you got them all and found out its dun worth the money, since you expecting too much...... If a header will increase the power even more than 50shot of NOS, who will get NOS then... Be realistic, no bolts on in any NA will give you that much power gain!

Hey EricL.. Casper is talkin' about his '98 3.0CL not a CL-S.. so he is nowhere near 300 hp at the crank.. never said this before but I appreciate all the 'physics' items you discuss in topics.. keep it coming

Put down the crack pipe. Try 25-30hp.

Damn.. easy boys... that's why I am asking... I will check with Comptech to see what gains there are... Thanks for the insight... No i dont think that 15-25 hp is worth $1000.00 but if I can get 30 or more Im game...
Once again thanks for the knowledge... Now I gotta check with the professionals and make a decision...

Hey Casper here is the dyno for the Accord V6.. I would expect the same gains for the 3.0L CL.. http://solar.innercite.com/comptech/header1.html

Yep, probably should have clarified every sentence for "ultra" clarity. I did make some statements (like the following quote/excerpt):

"So, if I add 10-15HP to the 290 (crank) HP, we are talking about 40-45 MORE HP for a CLS/TLS (for headers AND intake at the crank)..."

No problemo… and thanks…
