AEM CAI impressions

Well, I installed my AEM CAI today and I am impressed. Love the sounds it produces. So let me explain the sounds...at idle I hear a slight sucking noise (not loud but noticable). When you are driving normally you can hardly hear it but when you get on the gas it begins to roar. And the sound is great When the windows are up you can hear it roar a little bit more then when the windows are down (seem fairly obvious). Not sure about the the HP increases, but it does seem to have a tiny bit more punch as the RPMs get up there (don't think you just added a supercharger if you install one).

Install went well thanks to these instructions...http://wizardsworks.org/chod/acura/cai/ the AEM included instructions were a joke and not very helpful.

No need to remove the bumper or the drivers side front wheel...every thing went in without issue. I would suggest having someone there to help if you can the extra hands really comes in handy when trying to make it fit.

I really was up in the air between the Icebox and the AEM...I think I made the right choice but I do not have anything to compare against.

BTW: It looks as good as it sounds...woo hoo!!!

yea i just installed my cai too and its badass, love the look and sound. the sucking noise yours makes, does it do it right when the car turns on? ive kinda noticed mine makes a suckin noise quite audibly right when the car turns on and then when u hit the gas u can hear it and when u let off the gas it kinda goes away. at first when this happened i thought a hose was loose or something so i went to check the engine. however, the sucking noise was comin down from the intake down by the filter so i made sure everything was tightly secured around the filter and it was. i donno just kinda weird, the loud sucking becomes less audible after the car has been on for like 5 mins but i didnt know if this was normal or not. but anyways the vetc "roar" is badass i love it!

I have the same noises so I would assume that the sound is indeed normal...some of the posts i read from way back also indicated the same noises.

yes when the car is cold it will indeed make VERY LOUD hissing noises until the engine warms up. Then, it still makes them, just a little quieter. The icebox doesnt make any of these noises besides the hiss when you shut the car off.

Don't tighten the hose clamp around the filter too tight, the filter will rip apart from the rubber. Had it happen to me.

I think it makes that noise...because it is sucking in air instead of having air forced in (like when you are driving)

Can anyone confirm this?

yes it is normal it is the intake resonance caused by the increased airflow, almost sounds like a t/c engine. it really hisses on cold idle with a/c running(warming up in the morning while i have my cup a joe
